I say if Ford knew there was an inherent risk with these Chinese transmissions, then screw em'. They'll do a mass recall and get what they deserve for going cheap...

The tuners are having a lot of problems, the engine is just fine and that's why Ford isn't honering warranties on tuned 5.0's with a blown motor.

And yes, I get it...this is a Camaro forum and we will take every opportunity to take a stab at the Mustang...the only REAL competition. All's fair in love and war. I just hate to see everybody get so defensive.
I agree. Except for the fact that the transmission in question has also been in use since 2006 in a Land Rover and in the Ford Transit Connect and they reported the same issues and Ford did nothing about it. It took a rabid group of pissed off performance car enthusiasts to get the Feds involved so they will finally fix it. It seems as though Ford knows there is a problem and either has no idea how to fix it or doesn't want to spend the money to make it right. At least they will HAVE to fix it now. I feel bad for those guys. At least now they have some hope.

Uh, no. There is no MT-82 in those cars (certainly not in a front drive, transverse engine Transit Connect).

32 complaints out of 26,000 is not exactly a major, widespread problem. How many of the first 26,000 TR6060s failed in the Camaro?

It's been my experience that the gate for 2nd is easy to overshoot. The MT-82 shifts very smoothly, and requires very little effort to move it in and out of gears. If you pull it too hard toward the left while shifting into 2nd, the linkage will get a little hung up. If you only put a small amount of leftward force while pulling down, it slides in like butter every time. In short, I think a lot of these people with "problems" are just missing shifts, just as it turned out that a lot of Toyota's "stuck" throttles came from drivers sticking the gas pedal to the floor thinking it was the brake.

Chinese-made Trannys in Mustangs ????

"NHTSA Investigating Complaints About Chinese-made Ford Mustang Transmissions" --- Fox News

http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2011/...transmissions/

I love the last paragraph whereby Fox relates that the Chevrolet Corvette and the Camaro SS 6 speed manual trannys both built by a separate supplier function in a similar way. Thus leading the typical reader into thinking this is the same for these aforementioned vehicles as well. Way to go FOX....almost like CNN. What they do not tell you is that they are robust Tremecs made by TTC.

there are no chinese trannys in this picture

on a serious note, you have to wonder if this is related to the earlier transmission troubles that led to the TSB requiring a change in the fluid type in the Mustang to a lower viscosity fluid.
