Does the Mustang have skip shift? If so this could explain the problem. Turning left, go to shift to second and you're locked out. Panic.

They need to add the Challenger... my 09 R/T stalled out on me a few times. once I was exiting the freeway... going faster than I should've. Luckily I'm not a last minute stopper and i slowed down before the car shut off. No warning, no dash indicator, nothing! I'm turning the wheel and it was just dead... with the radio still playing and all the instruments looking normal at first glance. I managed to turn the car hard enough to avoid the median and the car rolled to a stop.

Traded the car that weekend... hence my Camaro. I think i had a lemon though.

ford found a way to avoid the gas tax, un like GMs BS VVT + skip shift. i hate them both. plus they also put in better gear ratios. for performance

Do they have a "skip shift" type of deal in the mustang?

I can see dummies reporting the normal skip shift in the SS as a problem... so if the Mustang has it too.... you know?

No its not the skip shit deal. The transmission wont actually go into gear or it is very hard to put it into gear.

OP - it has been discussed here before however most Mustang threads get jammed into a mega thread which makes it almost impossible to do an effective keyword search....

Bottom line on this:

Ford had some issues with the stock clutches within a certain build date where pressure plate bolts were backing out. This caused the dowel pins used for clutch alignment to sheer off and preventing proper clutch disengagement. Symptoms included the clutch pedal staying on the floor after a shift attempt. Owners reported difficulty in shifting which resulted in damaged syncro's and/or gears. Ford issued several TSB's that cover the pressure plate bolts, cold shifting notchiness, and clutch pedal sticking.

The NTSB investigation reports 32 complaints. That is out of thousands of MT-82 owners.

I have personally never had an issue with mine or the stock clutch while it was in the car. In fact, it is the best shifting manual trans car I have owned/driven.

FYI - yes the MT-82 has a skip shift "feature" that can be disabled by unplugging the solenoid or via a tune.
