Personally I think the parking for handicaped people are crap. The handicap get offended when you try and treat them differently. They say they want to be treated like everyone else, and dont want special treament. So why should they get special parking? If you truly want to be like everyone else walk your ass from the back of the lot like the rest of us. I have a cousin with Spinal Bifida and explained the same thing to her. She just laughed and said I had a point, we cant have it both ways.

No one talking about all the people that pay 50$ and get a blue pass every six months? I swear if I see another person park in a blue spot at walmart and then Crip Walk with his buddies into the store I'll probably set fire to the car.

Also, OBESITY IS NOT HANDICAPPED! You NEED to park your a$$ in the back and walk.

Maybe they are obese because of their handicap they cannot walk far or exercise. You have to have a Doctors certificate of need to get a handicap placard. At least it is in Tennessee plus you have to get a new certificate every two years.
Just because someone does not look handicapped to you does not mean they are not. My first wife if you looked at her she did not look handicapped, but she could not walk more than a couple hundred feet without having to rest.
Don't judge people on how they look, you don't know their medical condition.

I agree with you about the overweight people that park in handicapped spots because they just don't FEEL like walking... but some people that size have ruined their body/joints or have other problems and CAN'T walk. They may even have gotten bigger from their inability to walk in the first place. don't be so quick to judge someone that size that parks there or needs a chair, they may not be ABLE to walk (at all or without extreme pain), even if they wanted to. If they park there and get out and walk just fine that's another story.

I would never and have never park in a handicapped spot. I use my dad's truck a lot and he has a handicapped parking permit in it, but I would never use that to park in a handicapped spot myself. Sometimes when me and my mom are out with him, we will just drop him off at the door and go park it in a normal spot.

Not only that if you have a permit on your car that belongs to another person and use it for yourself when that other person is not with you then you can be jailed in Tennessee...

Tell that to my father who is in a wheel chair when it's -15F and snowing. The spots are there for a reason, and while some folks abuse the system, it's ignorance like yours that really pisses me off.

shall we play the violin for all you nay sayers?

1. In the majority of parking areas the number of disable parking spots is insane due to government bullshit. In front of the WA state controlled liquor stores, there is 7 disabled parking spots and about 10 or less reqular parking spots. I park there all the time to insure the disable don't buy booze!!!!

2. check out who usually gets out of the cars with the disabled parking permits.......a very high percentage of big fat obeast people whose disablity or health issue is directly related to America's biggest health issue: lazy couch potato smoker and boozer. These people deserve to walk not get dropped off in front of the store.

If ignorance is bliss then there sure are a bunch of blissful people posting in this thread.

They will feel differently when it is them or a loved one that has a handicap and needs to park in one of these spaces just to go buy groceries or get their prescription filled. Like I have always said you will never understand anything until it affects YOU.

Agreed but I've seen siblings fight over who gets Momma's parking permit. I see so many people parking in handicapped spots who obviously aren't handicapped. So many people who grew up without learning how to react when presented with an obvious "right thing to do".

Oh yea...that's a facepalm and a cool for when you get keyed...

Like I said before in Tennessee if you get caught using someone else's handicapped tag you could go to jail. And up to a $1000 fine. When will you people get it through your heads that just because someone does not look handicapped does not mean they are not? They could be subject to seizures, or have a heart condition, you just can't tell by looking. Many times it's not the person driving but their passenger.

The operative word is COULD BE sent to jail. They never will. I have never seen anyone go to jail for using someone place card. I do see it happen all the time. But like everyone says, you do not know what the handicap is just by looking at someone. I have to say though, if you need a handicap place card because you have seizures, then you really do not need to be driving
