Stock for stock and up to equally modified the STi edges it. I've driven a full Cusco suspension and road tuned 05 STi and it's like nothing within 100K of the price.

Try to find ANYTHING Amercan made. You have to buy foriegn, because we have sold this country outright. We used to have pride, now we have NAFTA.... And 9.2% unemployment, because of attitudes like this.

Subaru, I'd love to have one for camping and logging road cruises.
I work in a refinery, with a hundred of these so called, self loving engineers, with "special" degrees, who don't know their head from their ass. And 9 times out of 10, an idea that is realized and works comes from someone who runs the equipment. Book learned doesn't make one smart. Smart makes one smart.

Your right, the world would be much better off without engineers

Head over to your next SCCA event. T2 was dominated for years by the Sti. The along came the Solstice and guess who came out on top. Move to T1 and it is Vettes and Vipers. We know that our Mustang and Camaro STREET CARS on street tires come very close to running T1 times ON STREET tires. I am not knocking the STi in any way, but I also won't accept the STi as better than what I drive.

I agree, the Challenger is a bigger car inside, and I really do like them. However, the price tag on the SRT-8 made it too high to consider for a toy car.
I would have loved to see you two guys get out of that camaro when you stopped for gas, etc. LOL. Must have been wearing that car like a sweater

Why test drive (or buy) a Subaru when you can have a..

Just remember, it'll always be second to the Chevy Cortransvairmaro.

Of course you are. Most T2 cars would put down T1 times with major power bumps too. Some T1 cars, along with T2 cars, are restricted to keep everything as level as possible, while the others are typically only allowed minor power bumps from filters, cooling, exhaust, and tuning to keep the cars more reliable. Take most of the successful T2 cars and toss an extra 200rwhp at them like you have with your camaro and they'll be running down T1 cars all day long. I understand where you're coming from and I don't think it can be said that an sti is any better than the fifth gen either, but your comment is very misleading. An sti with coilovers, sways, some fat street tires, minor brake upgrades, and say a gt30r with other minor supporting parts would be running T1 times no problem.

I am not sure what is misleading. The Sti was the dominant T2 car for a couple of years. Then the Solstice came in and pretty much tromped the field. On the shorter tighter tracks the T2 Solstices posted times that would have been mid pack T1. I have not seen a T2 STi put up times like that.

Could you heavily modify an STi and make it faster, absolutely. The deal breaker comes with the cost of a gear box upgrade to handle that kind of power. It makes Tremecs look like a bargain.

If any car is that dominant in a touring class it's because the rules allow it to be. All turbo cars are running restrictors, varying in size in each car, suspension, tuning, and braking rules are very specific, the cars are limited by the rules of the class, not the performance they're capable of. You can be sure there will be rule changes to make the class more competitive, just like happened after the 2005 and 2006 seasons when the STi's finished 1-2 consecutively. In fact, didn't an Evo win the 2010 T2 championship followed by two BMW M cars. . . ?

The stock sti trans is good to 400awhp+/-, but 350awhp or less could easily put a T2 sti DEEP into the T1 time range. T2 STi's are making less than 240awhp. That's why your comparison is misleading. You're talking about how your supercharged, 550rwhp+ camaro with waayyy more modifications than you would be allowed if you raced in the T2 class, puts down T1 times in comparison to the sti T2 cars. A T2 STi with even a few power bolt ons and no restrictor would be perfectly capable of T1 times as well.
