Possible fried o2 sensor could have caused the cat on that side to fail?

I have no idea where i would go to get that checked out. If i did it myself, what would i be looking for?

also, if fumes were going back up, wouldn't the front o2 sensors throw a code?

take em off and look down with a flashlight and see if you see any charcoal when you tip it

In theory yes, but when it happened to me, I only got a misfire code. Then again, Mine's an LS1 and my cats might be in different places than yours

carbon will be melted all down your exhaust it wont be loose

i have aftermarket high flow cats. they are located after the long tube headers, almost directly under where i sit when driving.
