Usually it's not, but that's the most recognizeable automatic rifle. In the same respect, when you hear about dog attacks, someone always blames it on pit bulls. I've even seen instances where pit bulls were blamed and the animal in question wasn't even remotely close to a pit bull. Dobermans, Great Danes, Rotweillers, and German Shephards (to name a few) can all be vicious animals too. They can all easily grow to be very large animals (especially the Danes). But all of the bad rep gets put on the Pit Bulls. Why is it that if a dog is larger than a chihuahua it's considered a vicious breed? This is just an ignorant statement. Every dog has the potential to be a "vicious" dog. Pit Bulls are no more prone to being vicious animals than any other dog breed. Pit Bulls are just more likely to have d***** bags as owners that don't know how to properly train a dog. Give those same owners a German Shepherd, and the dog would likely be just as vicious.

I've actually never owned a pit bull.
I'll never have any pets, to be honest. The whole feeding-and-cleaning-up-after-an-animal-that-I-pay-a-crapload-of-money-for concept is just beyond my comprehension...

![]() I imagine most insurance companies would refuse to insure those homes, not because the owner has a pit bull, but because the owner is a moron regardless of their choice of dog breed. ![]() Quote:

Back in the 60s and 70s it was the German Shepherd in the 80s is was the Dobie, 90s they picked on the Rotties and now its the dreaded PitBull, The same dog as in the little rascals (petey), The same dog that made RCA famous the same dog that thugs and gangbangers sport to show RAW POWER. Not that they can control, maintain and use that dog RESPECTFULLY as in some car owners do the same thing, only takes one to Screw it up for all and get that Label put on that breed or make and model of auto/bike..."Responsibility" you have to ask yourself...Do I have what it takes control such Power? If it took more then a second to answer than I would say NO. The biggest baddest dog or car on the planet is not always the Best...NEEDS and WANTS!...after that its PAY, PAY and PAY

MannyC I hope you get this taken care of as you seem to be sitting on a powder keg here. I think these dogs are one of the more beautiful animals as well as the more maligned breeds out there. One of my favorite breeds is the Stafford-shire Terrier, a brindle. Simply gorgeous!!
These animals are great dogs but do have an inherent tendency to be a bit more quick to light off than other breeds and with their strength it can look like violence. I do agree with HeRS in that the shock collar is/was a BAD idea. Positive reinforcement is much better than the negative of the shock collar. As the saying goes, there are rarely bad dogs only bad owners. I think in reading through these posts there may be some behaviors on both the human side and the animals side that need to be trained out. I have had more than one dog in my 39 years; I started out as a bad owner and have learned over the years how to be a better one. There is a huge difference with training and education. Again good luck and I am very glad your g/f didnt get hurt too bad and you got the whole authorities thing taken care of. Cheers K |
