Make retreads illegal !!!!

Sign the petition and let's keep these flying pieces of death off our roads...

I hit one in my Camaro yesterday. I actually watched it de-laminate and fly into my lane.

Won't ever happen. Too many dollars at stake, and the truckers union lobbyists have more power then any stupid online petition.

Yeah, if they outlawd retreads, you would see a lot of private truckers out of work. I don't like retreads either, but it's just something we have to live with. Maybe what should be done is looking into better technology for them.

I HATE those things! People begin driving like maniacs when they see them - swerving & running off of the road.

It's worth at least trying to do something. This is like a bad sifi movie.. What if I drove around randomly throwing trash can lids at people's cars while driving down the highway? They would send me off, yet these retreads are far more dangerous than that....

The free markets would adjust by raising freight costs. I can not believe anyone driving a truck today would be put out of business by outlawing these killers.

Ps - if the technology worked id be all for it. It keeps the old tires out of the land fills as well as reduce costs. But today, these things are killing people.

Well, I'm assuming the cost of retreads is WAY cheaper than new tires, otherwiise why are they so popular. That cost difference could be devastating to a private driver I would think. Replacing tires i'm sure is quite a common occurence with all the miles they rack up and thus a very big expense.

I understand your point and it is logical. My counter point is the drivers will be able to up the freight cost due to the increase in operations cost. Just like fuel surcharges. Should keep them in business.

Can you imagine if retreads were available for passenger cars?

Just wait until a politician's family member is kill by a retread.
