just because our space program has been dragging its feet for decades now. it took us less than 10 years to put a man on the moon and we arent planning on going back for nearly another 10 years from now.

The ISS took too long to build (mainly cus we had to take over and build half the crap for the countries that couldnt complete their projects on time).

the shuttle should have been replaced at least a decade ago.

and the Orion system isn't even supposed to be in full swing till 2015


but... no one cares about deep space exploration, well... no one who's signing the check anyway.

everyone is too worried about fixing the little shit and they end up wasting so much time lobbying for little problems locally that they never see the bigger picture.

oh well, maybe Apophis will take care of that problem in 2029 or 2036
