I bet the driver would fare just as well against a semi if he was in a Suburban. That is to say ... poorly.

Ahh!! My dealer isn't going to like you very much when I go in tomorrow and tell them I'm cancelling my order for a Camaro for one of these little pink beauties!!..lol

I pass one of these rediculous looking things two or three times a week here in Indiana. I can't help but just laugh, or more like smirk, as I pass.

Their "Tridion" safety cell as they call it, is pretty neat, and uses the crash zones of the other cars.

As a result, the Smart fortwo has 4 out of 5 possible stars in the Euro "NCAP" crash ratings. The only reason it hasn't got 5 is that it hasn't got back seats, and thus consequently can't be assessed on child seat safety.

After watching how far that dash pushed forward and the all the shock of the crash being taken into the car with that big rebound on the 70 MPH impact I'll pass. At least you can still open the door.

Until the government can get us into mass transit, they'll try pushing these kinds of cars on us.

I'm 99% sure that the way that CAFE is calculated, it actually penalizes cars with an incredibly small footprint to encourage automakers to build vehicles of a more usable size.

You can rent a smartcar by the minute here in Vancouver BC.
Austin Texas was the first city in North America to have this.

I remember someone on here once arguing they had a great crash rating and they are safe. I guess common sense is not so common.
