Drove a Mustang 5.0 Yesterday

Geesshhh! I drove a $38k 2012 Mustang yesterday for at least an hour and, if the Mustang Fanboys are bragging on that car, I feel sorry for them. Here's stuff that's standard on the Camaro SS that the Stang doesn't have. Pneumatic hood prop, lockable glove box, telescoping steering wheel, electric seat back adjuster with electric seats, Brembo brakes, inside the car trunk release, did you see the ugly antenae, modern AC controls, and it rode like a log truck, or a go cart. It had some severe suspension thumping and rattles going over bumps, and get this: not one person stared and smiled at the new red Mustang like they do at my nearly 2 year old Camaro!!! $38,000 good grief! The engine felt more responsive than my car when it was bone stock, and it had the 6 speed auto trans with 3:15 gears, tiny tires that you could spin relatively easy. My 17 year old Grand daughter was with me and she said, "Anyone would be crazy to trade a Camaro like your's for this car!" That kind sums up my feeling as well. Keep your Camaro!

That would be awesome. I go to the Gleason, TN 1/8th mile with one or another of my cars regularly and I go to Beech Bend on occasion. Let's do it!

The Camaro costs $2k more to begin with....

I got mine for $33K and it has all the "missing" options on the Mustang! The Camaro SS should cost more with the items included in the base price, one of which is the Brembo brakes that weren't on this $38K Mustang and if it had, it would have been in the $40K range. You're wrong! Base price Camaro SS $30,995 vs base price Mustang GT $30,445

Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah....... You are wrong. MSRP starts at $22,145 for the 2011 V6 Mustang. A comparable 2011 Camaro 1LT V6 is $24,005. Mustang is a cheaper car to begin with, and hasn't drastically changed since 2004. So comparing a brand new design and packaging for a more expensive car to a less expensive older design isn't much to brag about, in fact it should have better packaging since it costs more to begin with !

This thread has absolutely nothing to do with a v6 Camaro or Mustang! He simply stated his opinion on the 5.0 V8 Mustang vs his V8 Camaro. He also told the Base price of both V8's and there is not 2,000 dollars difference in the price of the V8's. Don't go and get all butt hurt because you don't have an SS.

This Mustang chassis goes back to the Fox body design. It should have been paid for long ago and they should be free. Matter of fact, the rear suspension was taken directly from Caesar's chariots. I don't think I said anything about a 1LT or a V6 Mustang, but you obviously have a bone to pick....I guess I would too if I spent that much money on a ricer!

But yet the Mustang still dominates the Camaro on the track....oh and the Mustang does have a trunk release button located on the console to the left of the shifter, also the glove box does not lock but the console compartment locks. Some of the things you say make me highly doubt you drove the car. At any rate you are the old man version of a fanboy......fangramps. Lol

I need to test drive one. I want to see if they hype is real. Either way... my Camaro is NOT getting traded in for it.

I'd probably get a 392 if I HAD to give up my SS. I love the way it looks.

I didn't get a chance to drive a 5.0 yet... but did drive a 2006 GT that my friend has. Its like driving/riding in a shopping cart

My point was, the Mustang is a cheaper car in the first place. Common sense would tell us it has less features....
