Caprice Performance?

I love box Caprices. I'm not talking about donks. I don't do 30-inch wheels, hydraulics, or trunks with 8 subs. I was actually considering an old one as a daily driver for reasons I'll discuss later. I might lower it, put in a nice sound system, and upgrade the motor. Of course, I'd also like to modernize the suspension.

Unfortunately, I'm struggling to find parts for box Caprices. Who can point me in the right direction so I can see if this makes sense?

It's a GM B-body car, rather than look for Caprice specific items, look for b-body parts.

Coolest gangster (NOT gangsta) build I've ever seen was a wagon... looked GOOD!

Let's say I pick up one of these and wanted to do a police clone. Where would I find parts like the front bumper?

EDIT—I found some stuff.

ADDITIONAL EDIT—Where can I find some 9C1s for sale?

im guessing all the box 9c1's are out floating around. Theyre even too old to be taxis now. even the 94-96 9c1's are out of commission for police departments AND taxi companies.

the black sheep car is badass but i dont think its even legal to paint a car black and white (in the same fashion as a police car) whether it says POLICE on it or not. I think all Black would look just as badass though

With the older cars you're best having a parts car to go with your daily driver. Stuff is gonna go bad/break at a higher rate the older it gets, it's good to have spare parts right in back of the garage.

As far as where to get a 9c1, a few years ago it was EASY,State gov's were auctioning off their old stuff, now, you'll just have to watch ebay, craigslist, etc.

Here in my area a car can be black in white, they just can't put any markings or equipment on it that would misrepresent what it is. A lot of old decommissioned police cars are still sold with the same paint scheme.

Speaking of old taxis and police cars, TXDot was running a drinking and driving campaign where they modified the car half like a police car and half like a taxi.

Here is the Fort Worth one: http://www.flickr.com/photos/brylyn/3867973112/
Wouldn't want to hail that cab.

just because theyre sold with that paint scheme doesnt mean its legal to drive it on public roads like that.
