More PM Space!

Can we get more PM space?

I was wondering whether it would be in the realm of possibility of doubling our PM space.

Users would get 1000, and vendors get 2,000. And mods don't get a limit.

I understand that this comparison isn't even, but gmail gives you 7.5 GB! I don't know how much space each PM is, but I think that increasing it would be really nice.

So how about it?

Mods already have 5,000 just fyi. The problem with increasing the inbox size is that it takes up more server space. More server space means more money. More money means less mods for Tran. Less mods for Tran means someone's going through a wall. Tran throwing someone through a wall means Tran goes to jail. Tran going to jail means that he can't oversee Camaro5. Tran not being able to oversee Camaro5 means that Camaro5 will no longer exist. Camaro5 no longer existing means that you will have a lot of angry camaro owners at your door wanting an explanation.

More inbox space will just start this horrible chain of unstoppable events,ending with the demise of camaro5. So for our own safety we can't increase inbox size.

Anyway, there seems to be increasing demand for members to get more message space and I can see why. I don't get too many PM's and I've accumulated nearly 3000 over the years.

Doubling the space for 40k members probably takes up a fair chunk of server space, but I wonder if there is a way to add extra space automatically for those who are nearing their limit, say 90% full or something.

Fixed, *my mistake* would it be possible, instead of increasing the space of the inbox, to set up a system so that when your inbox is full and you get a new message, it automatically deletes the oldest message?

I really like this idea. Make it so that people who use it get more PM space, while those who don't need it don't get unused and wasted memory and server space!

just because you dont get many PM's doesnt mean others arent getting half a dozen a day on occasion....

quick question, and this is not meant to come off as demeaning as it applies to everyone... including myself (I currently have 4814pm's), but how often do you clean out your PM box?

do you need to keep all your sent pm's?

have you tried exporting your PM's to a word file or pdf? that way you can save them if they have important information (shipping details, etc) and you can clean out your pm box.

another thing, I have a lot of "conversation" pm's in my box that are like a slow-paced Instant Message setup. and after I've accumulated 10 or so (going to or from), I'll delete the earlier versions of them and save the newer messages that has all the quoted text.

just some ideas to ponder over.
