Absolutely agree! It didn't become popular until then, but I think that's because the internet generation could follow it's development. First time spy shots and "secret" info were easy to find...i.e. Chassis 5...

Makes sense. Hell, I never heard a Camaro refered to as a Gen? Unitil the 5th Gen came along. But Admitedly, I was not a fan of the 4th Gen.

Ahhhhh, So the C is for "chassis" and not necessarily referring to "Corvette"

So I suppose they are on their 6th chassis?

Wow...That's a simpleton view of it...Considering it was a code SPECIFICALLY for a CORVETTE chassis. Good job trying to point out a flaw in my history though...

did my share of turning wrenches...gonna build me another Factory Five Roadster soon. Don't tell me about a car hobby. We can school each other all day on it. See, a huge lot of people here suddenly became"car enthusiasts" when they bought their 5th Gen Cam. But I can call any of my car any darn name I want. Today, it is a Cam5 Camaro! I know what you mean though. What gets me is "Maro"

I actually resemble this.

I've ALWAYS liked cars. But all through the 1990s and 2000s there was nothing I gave even remotely a damn about. I fell in love with Camaro with the 73' Z-28 I bought at 16 years old in 1986. Again, the 4th Gen Camaro did nothing for me. And Mustang didn't either.

The huge contributing factor was that I had to be in 'Family' mode.

I'm wondering when the C5, C6, etc. designation started. Isn't that something relatively new, like since the fifth generation Corvette began? In the 80s were people calling them the C4's and C3's and C2's?

I certainly don't remember it. But like I said, I'd never heard even the 4th Gen Camaro refered to as a 'Gen' either.

What a bunch of whiners. I'm a car guy to the core, I own and have owned many different types of old and new cars and really, why get all bent out of shape over something so small. I hate to tell all you guys that are on your high horses and think that just because you know all the correct terms, and words to say this doesn't make you any more of a car guy than someone that doesn't. Being a car guy or gal has much more meaning then just using the correct terms. It's a nice cool night. Maybe I'll take my C5 camaro out for a ride. LOL

Also, I've been around the corvette crowd for many years it wasn't until the C5 came out that you ever heard anyone refer to their car in this fashion ,and one more thing, I would much rather have a C5 camaro then a C5 vette (Oh sorry, I guess I should have said Corvette. I don't want to piss any more whiners off.) The C5 vette is one of the worst money pits one could ever own. I know I'll never own another one.

Then what do the people around you call 67-69 Camaro's as a group?

EVERYONE calls them first gen Camaro's, probably because anyone and their brother can afford a 2nd gen but only cool kids have "First Gen's"
