I bought a left handed Uncle Mike's paddle holster and clipped mine underneath the steering wheel. In this location it can't be seen when I'm sitting in the car and can hardly be seen when I'm not. Also here I can get it while I'm acting like I'm turning the car off.
I also have a G-Code holster that fits better in this location but the Uncle Mike's Holster can be angled to one side making it easier to get to and remove. |

I'm not a cowboy, but I like to be armed when I'm out and about. Wearing one in and out of my car all the time and having to take it on and off when I go into to places that don't allow concealed carry such as banks or schools is not an option for me. I have a concealed carry permit, but I'm not inclined to utlilze it unless I am in an area of concern. |

and a holster isn't always very comfortable when in a car.... especially a smaller car. In my case it tends to dig into my side and it makes it more difficult to draw while seated if you ever had to.

I carry in the small of my back... extremely uncomfortable when in the car. Usually I empty my holster and slip my pistol between the seat and console. Have never had any problems with this even on long road trips across the state.
If I plan on a longer drive (over four hours usually) I put my small of back holster in between the seat and console and then have my LCP in my pocket for fuel ups or whatever. Can relocate the holster to the console if need be.

Just wanted to throw my 2 cents worth in.
I own the Mossberg Maverick Model 88 12 ga. shotgun. Also the Hy-Point Model JCP 40 S&W SemiAuto. I have the Mosin–Nagant M1891/30 lever action which fires 7.62x54R rounds and was made in Russia in 1943. I also have the Taurus Model 66B6 Revolver which fires .357 Magnum as well as .38 ammo. And last but not least the Glock Model 17 which is a SemiAuto and fires 9mm rounds. Now I go to the range every so often. I buy boxes when they go on sale not bulk. I'd buy bulk if I could do it mail order and not have to go through the FFL/Dealer. Anyone know how mail order works? I haven't flown with any of my guns yet, but if I understand it right all you have to do is disassemble the weapon and pack the parts in your checked baggage. Then when you check in the baggage you declare the weapon and that it is disassembeled in the luggage. They will open it then find it and your luggage should check in fine after that. Unless there is anything vital I forgot, which someone could let me know, I think that's it. I don't think the ammo is allowed. As far as purchasing guns, in most states you must be age 18 to buy rifles and shotguns. Some states require age 21 to buy rifles and shotguns. For handguns I think all states require age 21 to buy. For handguns these must be registered in all states, irregardless of caliber. The seller has the obligation to register the handgun with the Department of Justice when the background check for the handgun is made. It's always best to check before you plan buy for your particular area. Check with the seller and the local police, they should be able to answer any questions you may have. Now recently I visited some websites offering to sell firearms. I noticed that there were M1s, M16s, M203s, SAWs, M60s, M50s, Barrett Model 62A1s, and so on. I even saw the Soviet AK-47s for sale. Now in order to purchase these guns you need 2 things; 1. The money and 2. a FFL or a dealer who will recieve the gun for you(considering not everyone posesses a FFL). I don't understand how they can do that myself, but there it is. A word to the wise; these guns are running anywhere from $2000 to $150000 depending on the weapon you are interested in. Google conceals a multitude of sins. I was looking for a Colt 1911 .45ACP till I saw the prices. So now I will be looking for the best 1911 made be any company for $500 or less. They're out there believe me. You just gotta know where to look. I just wrote a whole lotta shit so don't hold me to anything. If you do the research you'll find out what I found out. Oh, and good hunting! |

I would never buy ammo mail order. Not only do you have to pay shipping and handling but ammo is also classified as hazardous material so as such you also have to pay a hazardous material fee depending on the weight. By the time you finish paying all of the fees sometimes you actually end up paying more then you would have had you bought it from a dealer, rarely do you actually save money and even then it's just a couple dollars per case (1,000 rounds).

Mail order is simple for ammo. Contact the company online you are wanting to order from to place your order. All of the places I have ordered from will have you fill out a form stating you are of age and most will accept an emailed or faxed copy of your ID. For the lower 48 states, your best route is to order ground. It is not hazmat unless you order more than a certain amount of lbs. The same applies to air, but that is not necessary down there and is veeeery expensive - trust me, I live in Alaska and have my ammo ground shipped to Tacoma and then barged to Alaska rather than air it. You can fly with your firearms and do NOT need to take them apart. You should only have to remove the bolt and/or lock open the action. When I shipped one of my AK47s to SE Alaska, I simply took the bolt out and placed it in the case as it does not lock open while in the rifle. You have the weapon in a locked case and you will have to provide them with a key (at least Alaska Airlines wanted a key). You cannot transport ammo with the weapon. You can ship ammo or mail it through a carrier. I shipped my ammo through Alaska Airlines cargo earlier the day I flew and just picked it up next door when I got off the plane. You must be 21 to purchase a hand gun. Most states allow 18 to purchase a rifle - this includes military style rifles. If you buy from a gun store or any FFL dealer, the weapon will be registared to you and a check will be made thru the Feds. That Fed. registar, arguably, is not kept up constantly from what I understand. In most states, you can buy a firearm from a private owner w/o any registration, but you should still abide by the age restrictions.. An FFL holder is a person who is technically running a business. The FFL requirements state that you need to provide a business address of some kind. True, that some FFL holders just have the license to buy cheaper firearms or ammo for themselves or friends, but they are technically supposed to have a business. You only need an FFL transfer when buying a new firearm from another entity such as a dealer out-of-state as the weapon needs to be shipped from them to your state to a FFL holder or other gun store (who will have an FFL license). Most FFL transfers are not that expensive and range from $25-$75 depending on who you contact to handle the transfer. There are much much cheaper rifles of the versions you cited to online for sale. SA AK47s can be bought for as little as $350. AR15s for $600. The cheapest M60 I have seen sold for $10,000 and was a SA only - a FA one would be in excess of $30,000. Barrett 82s for $8000 -$9000 are common. I have never seen a SAW or an M203 for sale on line to private citizens - but have seen parts on gunbrokers. Private security firms with special licenses have bought Saws and M203s from what I've been told. Those two weapons are all FA and are not sold in SA from what I know. Moreover, they were likely built after 1984 which makes them newly built FA weapons past 1984. Any FA guns, without very special permits, built past 1984 cannot be sold to a typical civilian. M16s built prior to 1984 can be bought for $12,000+. Post dealer sample FA FFL holders may have exceptions to the 1984 rule - dunno. I have no idea as to what you mean by Google conceals multitudes of sins... ![]() As far a a place to look for ANY firearm to buy, check online at Gunbroker.com. which is the #1 online gun auction/purchasing site. Practically all the firearms you could want will be listed there (including FA weapons). Or try Gunsamerica.com as well. Dog

Mostly I mean you can arm an army online if you have the cash.
Oh and I used to have a S&W .44 magnum with Pachmyr combat grips. Man that was a fun gun! Got rid of it at the local pawn for rent money back in '97 intending to buy back. I never did. A lesson learned, I'll never pawn any of my stuff no matter what I owe. I'll file bankruptcy first. There is a gun distributer located in AZ called Gallery of Guns, website galleryofguns.com. I have only looked at them thus far and may use them in the near future. They can acquire any gun commercially made or imported to the United States. They then quote the manufacturers suggested retail. Then with your zip code will come up with 3 local gun shops with their best deal. You can save hundreds of dollars off retail depending on the gun you have in mind. They also sell gun accesseries and have product videos. This is how I'll get my 1911 and I think I want a Desert Eagle and maybe another .44 and maybe an AR15 style rifle at some point. ![]() I am not the best shot, nor am I the worst. I think I will kill what I'm aiming at however. ![]()

Just a heads up for anyone with access to a BX/PX that carries firearms. Our local BX has all CZ and Dan Wesson guns at 25% off.
