I allways sucked in Vegas. I have enough to make some good money but I don't have enough to survive very long with setbacks. Plus I've never done it so I probably should stay away but I was just kinda kickin the idea around a little.

No way I would buy GM common stock, if they go chapter 11 you lose everything, you shouldn't invest based on emotions, they won't show any when they write you off in bankruptcy. You might consider prefered shares (GME) they may survive bankruptcy and they were paying a dividend, but IMO there are too many solid companies with low share prices now to even consider any GM stock.

A friend of mine put in about 100 bucks, and I'm going to...when I have 100 bucks to toss around. :(. It'll sure pay off when they shoot back up.

As long as the anti-capitalists now running the "gubment" are in office, I will not invest another freaking dime in the stock market.

I can't remember what the high was but I beleive it was something like 80.00 per share. I know it was over 50. I just think that if GM rebounds it will be a huge rebound. Some of the products are new technology. Imagine if I would have taken 5 to 10 grand and put it into Microsoft back in 1988 or something. Brand new stuff that eventually everyone bought. Me an Bonnie talked lastnight about it and she gave me the green light for 500.00 so away I go. It won't be so bad to lose it but if they take off again I'll be sorry I didn't do more.

Yes, but if you put that hundred into Altria stock, you earn 8% dividend. I understand your wanting to be loyal to GM, I do too, but buying common shares doesn't really help them, it helps the current shareholders escape with some of your money. I could be wrong though, in which case you might make a lot of money.

For what its worth my stock picks. I feel very strongly that GM is a great buy, down to 1.50 or so a share today. But, you don't want to put all your eggs in one basket, so Alcoa, GE and Citibank are all good options. Split your investment into all three and hopefully watch your money grow. Disclaimer.. I AM NOT AN EXPERT this is just a gut feeling.
