Nice burnout...you've done that a time or two haha.

I've heard about those 2 steps. Guy with a twin turbo SRT8 on 10psi ran 11.37 using one of those and rant and raves about it. I'm just paranoid of an electronic gizmo tying in to so many sensors of the car. I saw one act up one time and it was a headache. May have to eventually look in to one though if I wanna get real serious.

One thing your Mustang has going for it is the solid rear axle. As you know these Challengers have IRS. I put DSS Level 5 axles in mine to avoid any axle problems.....now I wonder how the diff will hold up LOL.

My next step is to work on the burnout. You can see obviously by my video that wasn't NEAR enough. I need to find out how to jump over on the brake real quick to hold it still. If I can get 1.7x or even 1.6x 60' I'll be in real good shape.

I just got these M&H DRs. Are the other tires you're talking about a slick or ? If I run the slicks I have to swap the front tires too to avoid some weirdness at speed as I understand it?

Sorry for all the newb questions, but I've only got about 15 passes on the drag strip in my life. Took about 10 passes for me to really start figuring some things out, but I still gotta long way to go.

Yes and are a bias ply tire. It is highly recommended to use a bias ply on the front along with the rear. Mixing can potentially cause issues and that is not something one wants to risk with a $30K+ car at the track.

Example tires I would recommend:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MTT-3743/
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HOO-18157/

Diameter and width are other considerations.

You should be using a Getrag rear and those are pretty stout from what I have read about.

Having a solid axle at the strip does help but they require the proper setup. Axle tube reinforcement, carrier bearing protection, setting the pinion angle, etc... Some work involved to get it working and surviving 6K RPM launches time after time.

All are great questions.

600 RWHP in the Cobra and all he got was high 12s @ 116 mph, was he lifting off of the throttle. Something is not right with that Cobra he should easily be trapping 120+ mph

Cool. I've been launching at 2000 RPMs. Above that and I spin the DRs too much.

What kind of tire pressure do you use? I've tried 20psi and like it "ok" but I'm spinning on my 1-2 shift a bit. I tried 18psi but it felt like the car was bouncing all over the place on ever shift. Back end was like a pogo stick.

I run anywhere from 12-14lbs. For the tire you are using, 20-25 should be fine. M&H should have some recommendations as well.

Have you thought about picking up a set of 17" Racestars front and rear to use when you go to the track? You can even drive on them to the track since they are DOT approved unlike Bogarts. Just swapping to Racestars shed 120lbs off my curb weight to bring my once heavy GT500 into a lean 3,660lbs, and is the main reason a bone stock 2011 GT500 ran 11.1@124.

“2006 Dodge Charger SRT8”
(Front) 17x4.5 with 2.25” backspace and M&H Racemaster 185/55/17 Front Runner
(Rear) 17x9.5 with 7.0” backspace and Mickey Thompson 275/40/17 ET Street Radial
(rear sway bar relocation required)

Also try to no lift shift 2-3 and 3-4. Keep the accelerator pressed to the floor and quickly stab the clutch pedal between shifts. You are loosing so much ground during every shift it almost makes it pointless to add any more power until you can cut down on your shift times. Ive been no lift shifting my GT500 with the stock Tremec tr6060 and clutch since the first week Ive had it its holding up great. All you need is a better clutch and Racestars and you will be running 10's.

Something to strive for

Have no idea what I'll run, never had her faster than 12.6 on bpu's before the build.
You're gonna go slower on street tires, I can almost guarantee you that. I tried everything I could to get a 12.30 on my Nitto Invos and the best I could ever do was 12.80s at 119. I had to completely avoid boost in 1st and 2nd.

Slapped on some DRs and shaved 8/10ths my first go.

definitely planned on rolling into it, not just slamming the gas from the line. but I think knowing the seal is leaking, means I should think about f'n up everybody elses day to race and stay off the track. which blows goats, I really want to run it finally :(

And I think I would have a easier time than you on street tires with the centri blower, the mags and kb's make too much damn torque from so low. Just a personal belief that a centri is a bit more streetable when you're pushing good power #'s compared to the insta-torque of the roots/screw type blowers.

NICE! I discussed a 2nd gear launch with some friend and they all said don't try it haha. Looks like that's the ticket. What have you done to that car, sounds and looks great.

125MPH traps are no joke.

basically everything you could imagine mechanically...expect a differential, which is why for now I'm staying with street tires and only moving to NT05 DR's when the rear invos are done. Maybe next tax return I can grow a set and buy a DSS Ford 9" rear conversion, a cage, and a set of slicks and try for the crazy launches.

you see 124mph on this vid, the 125mph was on my 12.2 run
