That's a tough one for sure. :( While in my opinion you're justified to be angry about the situation, the psychology of alcoholism and addiction is very complex. Sorry to hear your friend didn't receive the right help and support for him when he needed it.

LadyBugsMom, I'm sorry for your loss. It makes me angry that people who abuse substances can't see how they're hurting their loved ones. I have a friend dying of liver failure. She's done drugs and drank forever. They are both sober now, but she's made peace with her past as well as her future. I respect her for that. We are going to see her and her husband today, we know we won't have many more chances. He's in complete denial and watching him lose her is sad. All we can do is be there for support.

Suspect there are more of us that have had to deal with this than want to discuss it! It's tough, but some of us just get to the point where we can't let it ruin our lives.

Spent the past day and a half listening to music that reminds me of my friend. He and I used to sing together - we loved old Motown... I loved him so much... Why'd he have to go and waste it all???

Some people you just cant reach. I've lived with them, been friends with them, watched them throw it all away and die at age 28... Some people you just cant reach no matter what you do or try.. they go right back to it as soon as they get out of rehab.. and the friends are left to deal with it and wonder why and how... I am very sorry for your loss... I've been there.

Greetings to all my old fart friends from Washington D.C.

So sorry LadyBug. I have a niece in jail for possession. She had been out of rehab about a month when she fell off the wagon again. I think we've all been touched by the scourge of drugs and/or alcohol. I can only imagine the feelings of your loss. Sometimes when I hear something like this, I wish I could take the pain of the loss on myself so my friend wouldn't have to suffer. I wish I could take on yours.

Thank you Jay - you're a good man.
On a happier note, how's your trip?

Hi old farts. I'm bored at work. Not one client has shown up all day. I don't feel loved today (at least not by my clients - lol).
