Funny you should say that.... I was on the train recently when i went back east... Amtrak northern route across the top of the US... We had Immigration come on the train in Montana .....LOL I get a knock on my sleeper door and they ask me if I was born in the US... I laugh and say yes... first time I've ever seen that...LOL do we have an issue with Les Habitant sneaking across the border?

I've been stopped by the boarder patrol in Arizona. I look like a cross between Ron Howard and Dennis Leary.

Vegas eh? Funny you should mention it. I've been eyeing up the southwest for a long time. I visit Arizona at least once a year. (my Dad lives in Chandler). I've been to Las Vegas once. Summer of 1977 on a family road trip from Dallas. To say its changed there since then is an understatement, I know. Anyway, if I leave here, the southwest is where I'm heading to.
I think some of the reasons why the SW is so alluring are the wide-open expanses of rugged terrain, low and high mountain deserts, cowboy legends and the chance to indulge a certain wander lust. So much of our history, especially post Civl War (War of Northern Aggression for the folks from the South) is rooted in our expansion west and the promise of prosperity.

Add to that the possibility of escaping the harsh climate of the northern tier states (I left MN in '84, so I know harsh) and you have all the makings of a place that is "someplace I'd rather be" for a lot of people.

Ice Cream. Yummy. Has anyone tried the latest "treat" rolled out by Denny's - Bacon and Maple Syrup flavored ice cream?

We need to have an old farts get together !! LOL... not sure how cause we're all so far apart.. but I think it would be a lot of fun !
That's a great idea! And maybe include young farts with old cars. Might take a year to organize, but so what? If we don't, another year will go by just the same.

Wasn't that the State Trooper in "Gumball Rally?"

A dear friend of mine from high school died yesterday... :( He led a hard life of drinking and drugs and it finally caught up to him.
I saw him about a year ago, when he went into hospice. When I saw him, he cried and said "I'm sorry" to me. I could tell he was still drinking, even though he was so sick, and that his girlfriend was enabling him. Also, his dad was really matter-of-fact in telling me "Norm's dying, ya know..."
It saddens me, but it pisses me off too. Alcoholism is one of the few diseases you have a choice in, and they just all gave up on him... HE gave up on himself.
