A tick over 13.0 sec. and you're through the quarter-mile. It's a rush, of course, but not overly dramatic. Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

no i have the article in my bathroom, they were comparing it to the newest (released m5) the did mention though that the m5 was 5 years old and but that it still showed the strength of the gxp.

GM has built a lot of specialty performance vehicles lately, plus they have a solid base of regular performance cars. Also, the ZR-1 is considered a 'regular' car, it wasn't from the performance division so the regular engineering teams aren't lacking talent either. What else do they need that they haven't already developed? A Saturn Aura redline? A Cadillac SRX-V? Buick Enclave Super? Aveo SS?

I'm sorry, but I didn't think someone was actually going to post something like that. I'm not trying to sound like an @$$ (more than I usually do) but have there been any tests where the GXP hadn't proven superior? I don't recall top speed testing on the GXP yet. I know that SRT will get well into the 170s, if I remember correctly.

However, ZR1 wasn't, Camaro SS wasn't, among others. Hopefully we'll keep seeing high performance development until they come back into being. It'd be a shame to loose all those great cars.
