Joplin, MO got hit hard
For anyone that hasn't seen the news, a good sized tornado took a swipe at Joplin, MO yesterday. Death toll right now is at 89 and expected to rise as rescue workers get to more and more homes.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/43132174/ns/weather/ And, sadly enough, there is ANOTHER huge system heading their way this morning: http://radar.weather.gov/Conus/uppermissvly_loop.php Thoughts and prayers to the people affected down there, we have any C5 members from that area?

We don't think about how well off we are until we don't have anything, and there are now thousands of Americans throughout Missouri and the south that now have nothing, including the tornado that hit Minneapolis. Think about it, no home, no job in a lot of cases, no food, no shelter, no air conditioning, nothing. Please consider giving whatever you can to help out. You can text REDCROSS to 90999 to donate $10, which I have, or The Salvation Army or any of a number of ways you can help. I lived through one of these damn things and can tell you it is something you never get over.

The fact that it wiped out their local hospital is crazy to think about. My prayers go out to all affected by the crazy storms that have been occuring all over the country this year.

Yeah prayers and thoughts go out to all those affected over the weekend (came close to me, about 5 miles away, in Minneapolis) by these storms. Weird thing is, is the storms Saturday night looked a lot worse than the ones yesterday!
Still sad for those affected. I have never been affected by a tornado without loosing anything so I really can't say what it would be like, but I can only imagine....it would suck a lot! EDIT: My local weather said it was a mile wide, EF4 tornado in Joplin MO

I emailed the Joplin Red Cross to see what I could do to help:
"Thanks for your interest in helping the people of Joplin. The things we need the most are cash donations so we can buy the things that the families need. Thanks for your willingness to help. Mail donations to American Red Cross, 410 S. Jackson, Joplin, MO 64801. Greg James Development Director" |
