Arrow Ruin's Photography Thread

I got some great feedback from some other C5 members regarding a few of my... portraits... so I was inspired to start a thread to showcase some of my work.

Also, this is a thread for photography discussion. Any questions any C5 members have for me, or other photographers here, can be asked!

I figure I'll give it a shot and hope that I get enough positive feedback to keep me posting more and take some new shots this summer. The camera has collected dust and needs brushing off.

I ask the people please respect my work and not repost them anywhere without asking me first. I'll gladly provide full sized pics of scenery (not people) for anyone who wants a wallpaper (oh flattery, how I love thee) for their computer.

Added Info
I was asked about gear... so what I'll do is give years the photo was taken. Anything taken pre-2006 was with a Nikon Coolpix P3 (for the most part), anything from 2006 to 2010 was with a Nikon D80. In 2008 I picked up my Nikkor 18-200mm DX VR lens. And in 2010 I traded up for my D300s. I've gone through a few external flashes but none of any real importance.

So, for my first batch I give you:

Madeline and Scout 2006; A Beach in Belize 2006; Emerald Isle, NC 2008; and Asheville, NC 2008.

Still love the expression on Madeline's face in that picture.

Says "Bad ass" with a twist of spunk.

Also love the alleyway photo

/yea, I said spunk. Big whoop wanna fight about it?

Yep, TBS marathon. After my workouts I can barely move so this was the station that was on.

Anyway, c'mon people, let this man know how good he is.

G-Oil, I think I've seen every episode. Too damn funny. Good show.

Anglwngss and Shardik, I appreciate it! Taking an ordinary sunset and making it extraordinary one is a fun challenge. So far it's all in the exposure.

I'd love to learn photography. I have a decent camera (Canon t1i) but I don't have any lenses or equipment. I've never really had any lessons on photography so must of my pictures are boring or don't looks professional.

You don't need classes to take good pictures, you do need practice. Take tons of pictures. You'd be suprised what kind of pictures you can take with a kit lense if you just get things figured out. The number one bit of advice I can give is to read the book "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson. This will get you on the right track as far as how to use your camera correctly. Don't worry about your pictures looking "pro". Once you figure out composition and post processing, you'll get "pro" photos all the time.

Just don't take it seriously, and have fun! Oh, and you'll shoot better with Nikon! J/K!

All shot with a Nikon D300s.

Great pics!!! All of these are amazing shots. I too love the hobby and love the idea of having a thread to post questions and share photos. Maybe listing what equipment (camera body, lens, etc) was used for the photos posted would be a plus too?
