A boost of just 45hp and 70lbs of torque are not going to strip virtually a full second off a car in the 1/4 mile... especially a car that didn't get any lighter in the process (4260lbs).

Look, I'm not even bashing on the new Challenger, I actually am glad to see it with some real power.... but you simply arent overcoming physics with an extra 45hp...

I won't debate that this car is easily a high 12 car with the right conditions stock....but it's not posting a 12.4 in the 1/4 stock....

The SS has some runs in the mid 12's. The 392 will be faster in stock form than the SS, just something you will need to come to grips with. With a better power\weight ratio, and a pretty sophisticated Auto Transmission and Suspension from Mercedes in the SRT8 Auto, hero runs of 12.3 can be expected. Magazine times are often average drivers with average conditions.

The new 6.4L Hemi is a low end torque monster and you know the formula for every 1/10th in the 60ft is yada yada yada in the 1/4. They are also dynoing 450whp 460wtq so that 500hp at the crank is plenty to overcome its added weight and deliver mid 12's in stock form and will be even quicker next year when they release the 8 speed auto. I sure wouldn't want to tangle with one at a stop light.

Really disappointing for the Dodge camp that the 5.0L will probably match the new 6.4L's glory passes.

If you are going by price, then realize the SRT8 starts at around 43k, the ZL1 will no doubt run 50k+ (GT500 also starts around 50k for the 12 models), a 37k 2SS is closer to the SRTs price than a ZL1, fact is the SRT8 is kind of in a class of it's own because it falls between the SS and ZL1 in price and performance. Oh and as an FYi, the crappy drivers at Edmunds got a 12.6 for a stock 11 SRT8 and they frankly suck at driving......

How has anypne proved the car was raced completely stock?

Plus Motor Trend is showing a 392 at 13.00. So when the Camaro and the 392 run side by side on the same track.....I guess then the numbers matter. http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...est/specs.html

Motor Trend tested a manual, these times were for the automatic equipped cars. As I said, Edmunds even got 12.6 from an auto equipped car, so please stop just searching and looking for the bad times......

Price is irrelevant when you are talking classes. The class the ZL1 falls in is the top dog of the Camaro lineup. That's where the SRT8 is...

You don't run a base Corvette against the Viper, you run the ZR1.... You don't run a V6 Camaro against the Mustang GT...

So almost 7 grand more for a (43-45k) SRT8 over a (30-37k) SS, yet that's somehow a better match than a 50k ZL1??? What?!?!

You have to realize that he doesn't even own the car......so numbers and price seem to be a bit irrelevant to him.
