GM should seek bankruptcy protection, and then bust the UAW. I am sure there are plenty of out of people in the Northeast that would love to make $30 hour (half of what a UAW worker makes now).

This is not a political forum. This rule is not negotiable. Stay on topic, "GM and it's current situation". you can connect the dots to the federal government but keep political differences out of the conversation completely.

I am actually the CEO of an Investment Advisory company, and the way the gov't is throwing money to all these companies is sickening to me.

I began my company without going into debt...it was hard, but all it took was using my brain and knowing what I need and what I do not need. I do not see what is so difficult about realizing what is important to a company and what is not.

Maybe it is just me but I am confident that my company has absolutely nothing to worry about in this economy....My clients are happy with my services, and my company is growing.

See people the way this all works is.....
1- Treat your clients right
2- Be financially responsible with running your company
3- You will become successful!

And it didn't take a gov't bailout!!!

Sorry just blowing off a little steam.

Now, I am not a UAW fan but that's unfair. They don't "make" that. The double the $30 you speak of includes what would be their total benefits including healthcare and retirement if things stay status quo.

I agree with you partially.

I'm certainly not a CEO. but I manage my projects with similar outlook. And in this economy I'm, by the grace of god, expecting growth. And my customer is the DOD. So, yes you can weather and even grow in a down economy.

But, I'm thinking, even though these core principles are probably at work in GM. It's not a fair comparisson. My guess is they have projects within GM that are worth 100 times what I manage a year...

I just don't think it's that simple. But, certainly true.

I agree with you also. I was trying to speak more to the financial industry, banking, and mortgages.

As far as CEO goes, I am not big shot, this is a smaller firm that is very specialized, please do not confuse me with the big financial firms that are blowing it for everybody...not to mention giving us all a bad reputation.

No, not confused with those guys at all. And it's nice to hear from someone who knows that business. You add credibility to the complaint that most of us have about that industry.

Did you see the UAW worker on national news about a month back, when ask by a reporter "so, on average about $1200 dollars of every car goes to pay for UAW worker health care for life. When ask, why don't you think the UAW should start paying for more of their benefits? The worker replied, because my father was a UAW worker and his was paid for, so should mine." And he wonders why his job will be gone, or moved to Mexico. Still, I think a lot of out of people in the Northeast would love to make $30 hour, and not be part of a union!!!

There are some of us in this industry who do it the right way.

If anybody ever needs to talk to a financial person, feel free to get in touch. I am always willing to help advise or just BS with anybody...free of charge of course!!

Either way we'll get our Camaro's however I sure pray to God that Chapter 11 is filed at this point...
That's absolutely REDICULOUS. On all counts. Government control? And you want them to file? You've got to be kidding............I hope you're kidding.:(

The news said it was equivalent to costing them over $3000 per car to make them. Concessions from the UAW (which will amount to nearly NOTHING IMO) isn't going to help that.

Nothing personal here but the unions cost structure is killing GM. Why pay someone 95% of thier salary for them to sit at home? Things like that do not make sense business wise and GM cannot compete with the other Auto-manufacturers. That has to be addressed and corrected.

That has been addressed and corrected. The Jobs bank you refer to is gone.

Be that as it may...that issue was also as important financially as an ant. It serviced a total of some 2 thousand workers, compared to the hundred thousand other people they employ...I agree on principal 100% -- but it's one of those things that shouldn't have been focused on....
