4:10 gears in the rear. tho that might be changing. my daily work commute is less than 2 miles one way. on average, I drive about 8 miles total a day (lunch break included), with the occasional 40-60 mile drive to my inlaw's house or to see my wife at work.

you will pay for gas. the engine will automatically fire up to use the gas after a certain amount of time so that you eventually add new fuel to keep the old gas from going bad.

keep in mind, it doesnt take much power to keep a vehicle in motion. its the acceleration that kills gas mileage. in fact, GM reports an increase of 10-15% efficiency when using the gas motor above 70mph over the electric motors alone

modern diesels in cars today arent much heavier than their gasoline counterparts. in the truck world, they are significantly heavier.

a 3 or 4 cyl diesel powering a generator would be perfect
