now, the money that the government spent to buy shares in the company is a whole different story that people are too naive to see. if you count all the money the govt sent in GM's direction vs what GM payed the govt, then no, GM hasn't payed an equal amount. but, GM doesnt have to pay anything else back. they paid back the loan. the only thing left is to buy back the shares from the govt.
