FORD and CHEVY 6.2L engines compared--> but it's a PICKUP!
Sorry if this has been posted, but I've discovered a graph showing that the FORD SVT RAPTOR pickup has an engine with "equal performance" to the SS LS3. How do you define performance? Would that be a true statement?

I agree, seems weird to compare the engine performance of my SS with a... frigg'n pickup...

Odd comparison seeing as these are two very different animals. The only similarity I see is the displacement. Something really cool would have been seeing that 6.2 in the Mustang instead of the 5.0. Who knows though, maybe they've got plans for that in the future.

True, the 6.2 could make its way to the Mustang making things very interesting.

You can get a 6.2 L ls3 in a full size gmc and chevy truck it is a engine option that is what the raptor should be compared to. Trucks weigh 2000 more pounds than the camaro ss. Horsepower to weight ratio in a truck and car are 2 totally different worlds.

This is impressive for the Ford 6.2 because the Raptor drivetrain robs more power than the SS. The truck has beefier/heavier tires, wheels, axles, transmission and yet still makes more power than the SS at the rear wheels. I wonder what kind of power the Ford 6.2 makes at the crank.
Looks like the Ford falls on its face at 5700 RPM though.

In this case I would say the two are tuned for two completely different jobs tho. Just look at the redlines, also im wondering what sort of dyno they used, those torque lines look really odd ![]() ![]()

An aluminum block might help with that. As of now maybe they didn't see it necessary though with how much power the 5.0 makes.

Well if they mean that the graph lines follow similar paths, then I guess you could say they have "similar performance". Looks like the Ford motors powerband has a bit more midrange punch, but does not come on as soon, nor last as long before it falls on it's face.

Anyone know about their compression ratios and all that? When it comes down to it, how to we defend that one or the other is a better "high performance" engine?
