Maybe but there are more mod options for the auto like tranny tune and torque converters.

Before modern ECU's you're right Jason, Manuals would smoke autos. Nowadays the L99 is almost dead even with LS3 if both are stock despite the 5% more HP loss at the transmission and the 26 less HP the L99 starts with.
