Most folks have a certain brand of cars they love and are loyal to. I have always loved Chevys, when I was in HS a 427/435HP Vette was king, but the 426 Street Hemi, and the Cobras were right up there as well.
Then a combination of gas prices, and insurance rates killed the American Muscle car and HP went out the window. Today at the moment, those of us that love power have wonderful options, and we should enjoy them while they are being offered. Look at the SSR 2003-2006 then gone forever even the factory has been torn down! It is really a killer truck, if you visit their Forum you will see how much those guys love their rides. Mine is a pleasure to drive, lots of power, dependable, comfortable......and GM's production costs were about $150,000 per unit produced. We should all enjoy the power while it's available..........next year they might be building cars with sails for power!

I got the chance to drive the new 5.0 and GT500 w/track pack about three or so months ago... and I gotta tell you, that 5.0L is nice... but the GT500 is where its at! its an amazing performer and it never once felt out of control (even when I was drifting sideways through a U-turn lane underpass... lol)
but I just can't get past the looks of that rear end... if I own a car, I want to be able to take a picture of it from ANY angle and think, "yeah, that's the shot"... and with the new body Mustangs, there's no way to do that... and I really wonder if Mustang sales are lower BECAUSE of that rear end... every person I talk to, even Mustang loyalists, dont seem like that part of the car... the '09 GT500 was just about perfection on that body design... still have no idea why they changed it.

that cobra is bad ass for sure but for the money it cost your in zl1 territory and I am afraid i would rather have the zl although your car would probably beat the camaro still. both very respectible cars though. sweet ride

Everyone here is mad because they get beat by mustangs and get stuck looking at the back end, which looks pretty nice honestly. I would take either car they are equal in my book

Mustang Cobra - yes, Mustang GT - no
Even though the Mustang GT is fast, I wouldn't want to be seen driving one. Sorry, but that's the honest truth. |

I'm not crazy about antilock brakes either. Yes they've been standard on GM cars for 20 years. But I find the computer calls on them earlier than necessary. GM being conservative toward "safety", I suppose. I wonder how much weight could be removed from modern cars if the consumer had more choice what features were really wanted. |
