I have a 2011 mustang 5.0 for a week
To be honest this car is amazing. I'm a Camaro fan but this car is really starting to change my mind. I probably would never buy 1 cause it's butt ugly but from driving it it's breath taking. Fast as hell and really no complaints but I'm still getting my 2012 Camaro ss in august. I have driven the challenger Rt, mustang 5.0, and the Camaro ss. Overall I like the ss but I see why some people like the 5.0 but it's 2 ugly to own lol

There's nothing wrong with liking the Mustang. Both the Camaro and the Mustang have their pros and cons. That's what makes it interesting. The more I drive my new Camaro though the more I'm thinking I may just have to sell my Mustang. It's already been shoved out of the garage by the Camaro and I doubt I'm going to drive the Mustang much anymore.

I've always wanted a Mustang but the Camaro was a much better buy at the time I got mine, it was between an 05-07 GT or the 10 RS I got now....I recently pulled into our Ford dealership while helping my friend look for a new car and they were more interested in me trading my Camaro for one of their Mustangs LOL...If I had to choose between a 5.0 or an SS i'd go with the SS trust me everytime u get a compliment in one of these Camaro's, you get such it big smile that it hurts.

I was originally going to get the 2011 Mustang and test drove it when it came out. was impressed with the hp and handling of the car. After driving it though it had not given me any WOW factor as I have seen this body since 2005 everywhere on the road. Can't tell one from another. Then on a chance I tested the 2011 Camaro which had approx same torque and hp and even the handling, although the Mustang felt tighter in the corners. The Camaro had the WOW factor and still does everywhere I go. People always talk to me about my car. If I had a Mustang I don't think people would give it a second look.

You know ford did a Great job with the new mustang. I actually respect they said we are staying with a live rear axle we are going to make it better at handling !!!!!!
Its ok to like both if thats how you feel. I do think its funny people say one reason they buy the Camaro is they get more looks in the Camaro.....is that why you want the car ? ![]() oh well to each there own here is two everyone who buys a new Camaro or Mustang. Lets support each automaker and keep money in the system and smiles on our faces. |

At the time I had a list of 4500 dollars in Roush Parts I would buy to give it a more aggressive look ![]() But what really killed it for me was that you can't get the Brembos on the automatic! They only come as an option on the manuals and the Brembos come with the nicer looking rims... The mustang was more expensive too! I do not regret my decision at all

With that being said. I am not going to lie. I love seeing people look at my car. I did buy a color that doesn't get as many looks, but I don't like sticking out like a sore thumb either. I'd probably have considered a very dark burnt orange though if it was offered like the 2011 Challenger has. That color is beautiful! If I had the money, I'd have all three because I respect the fact that even with rising fuel prices, the big 3 are willing to make impractical (no real rear seating, no towing, bad fuel economy) cars that people enjoy driving and being seen in. Sometimes the boring practical choice just isn't the one you want to make! I truly hope that V8s will continue to be offered in these cars for many years to come, even if they have to shrink them down and add power adders, you just can't beat the sound of a lower RPM V8.

Hmmm...Since the Chevy dealers here don't really want to sell a Camaro ragtop or one with a sunroof, maybe I should try the Ford dealer. Well....no, not really.

Well...I love both my muscle cars, my '10 SS and my 99 GT. But I can't stand the looks of the newer Mustangs
. Before getting my SS, I even went to see what the local ford stealership would do. The 5.0 wasn't loaded to the hilt or anything special like that, and I was trading my '08 Avalanche, well they weren't in the ballpark, not even on the same planet for my trade-in!!! I got thousands more at the Chevy dealership without even trying. Now, I can't say I'll never buy ford again(but pretty sure ) , but I'll never buy anything from that stealership ever!!!!

Glad you have a chance to experience what a lot of people are saying about the 5.0. It is a nice performer. Only if it weren't for the ugly rear end.... I almost didn't get my GT500 because of it but the GT500 rear end with its taller and slopier spoiler and rear diffuser make a huge difference in the look department. I actually just left a Ford dealer, looked at a new Boss 302 that they just got in last night. WOW! But then again, the ugly rear end! The Laguna Seca Boss spoiler should come stock on all Boss. Chevy has the GFX and stripe packages for the Camaro as there are appearance enhancement offerings/options from Ford to easily change the stock look of a Mustang as well. IMO, stock for stock, performance goes to the 5.0. Better appearance goes to the SS.

I'm one of the guys that prefers the new Mustang rear end over the last generation... but one of the things that bothers me about both the Mustang and Camaro is that the designers made no effort to hide the mufflers (completely). That's fixable obviously (Magnaflow for me), but I really can't understand why they think that looks good. I also like the 'softer' edges on the new Mustang over the last. In fact, that change and a cover on the cup holders is what did it for me. I might could like the Camaro more if they'd tone down the hips. Details.
