J.R.R. Tolkien hadn't the faintest notion of how to write. The movies made from his books have got to be the most boring cinema ever conceived. I tried three times, count 'em, three times, to watch the Lord of the Rings; I was snoring no later than twenty minutes into those doldrums every time, ho hum...

Anyone catch the special???

Was neat, they said it all got started cause a student of his turned in a paper with a blank sheet.

And for some reason he took that blank sheet and wrote on it.

A hobbit lived in a hole in the ground.

Or something real simple like that, but its how it started.

And I guess there was also a companion book written that was not published till after his death.

Was a 2ft thick book of back-story, for the rings movies.

Basically he pulled a George Lucas but on paper
-----

OT anyone see Frodo Baggins now has a failed comedy show on FX???
Hasn't started yet but its gonna be a big stinkin bomb by the commercials.
somehow a comedy show about a guy in a dog suite is gonna be funny while Frodo Baggins searches for his ring worm
