I was behind a big, old Suburban one time with a female driver and some kids in the back. She saw someone in the car next to her (on her right), rolled down the window and started gabbing away with them.

As she was blabbing away, her Suburban started rolling forward......rolling......and rolling.....finally, when she'd rolled about 15 feet, she smacked into the compact car in front of her. The collision due to the mass of that big-ol' suburban, even at that low speed, caused the rear bumper of the car to flare out so far that I could see it on either side of the Suburban.

I hate people with no situational awareness.

Luckily the dog in the truck seemed OK. Good Golly, its not like the light just turned and the Challenger stopped short with his wife. Besides, that is Frank's move.

I'd at least be gettin out to go check on the other people. Hopefully that person videoing the challenger let the police have a look at the vid.

If the Challenger driver wasn't so busy looking into the camera and would have been checking his rear view mirror, he may have seen a truck coming at him.

And done what, run a red light and hope he doesn't get t-boned?? At least since he didn't see it coming he was relaxed. If he had tensed up right before the impact he might have been injured.

I never said it was his fault, did I? After the impact he WAS forced into the intersection anyways.

Don't you guys check back there once in a while to see what is approaching?

of course I watch behind me, but what exactly would you do, chance pulling forward and getting T boned by what might have been coming from the left? (there was a car there filming, couldn't see clearly in that direction to know giving it the gas would save his ass), or yank to the right and gas it and hope nobody was coming up the right lane at the same speed the truck was going (another inattentive texting dipshit).

easy to say do either of these to avoid it, but without having clear view of those spots, it's still a crapshoot. I'd rather be rear ended than tboned from the side if I had to make the choice.

Yeah you didn't say it was his fault, but what good would seeing the truck coming do? Like bmwdon says, not many good options there.
