Yeah, that's why I'm glad I had her while I could. That bike could take a licking and keep going. Hasn't been tuned since 1983 in Japan and she still keeps up with the VFRs, VTRs and almost everything else out there.

Only thing better would be to bump her to the 1100. Then were talking suicidal power. She will be missed. Auction ends this Thursday, so hopefully I can get a good chunk going for the down payment. Lord knows the Exploder won't give me very much to work with outright.

But it was how she ended up expressing that tore me up inside..

She actually cried for me. Cried for the fact that I had been so reckless in this boondoggle. We had a small fight, I chewing her out and she me until it eventually blew over and we cooled off. What I did next I still hurt about, but I felt it the right thing..

I put it up for auction.

When she found out, she was relieved.. and still thinks a V8 monster Camaro is safer. But at least I cheered her up and did the right thing for a woman that has done so much for me these past 21 years. And I guess there are two things she really loves in this world..

Our family

And the Camaro.
You did the right thing, Zabo. Your mother's peace of mind should be precious to you.

^^^ She is still correct too, BTW...

I ride a sportbike, but I think I may only keep it for another season. It really is quite dangerous, especially in detroit rush hour traffic. My mom was the same way; wouldn't let me get one until I moved out and lived entirely on my own.

Good luck on your sale!

I may be substituting a bike for a camaro for the time being, with how my financial situation is looking right now. My grandpa left behind a 1986 Yamaha Maxim 650 when he passed away last January, and I'm thinking fixing it up as a bobber once everything clears the court system. They're decently quick bikes too - just under 13 seconds through the 1/4, stock.

We'll just see how things go.

Final product would be very similar to this, except painted IBM instead of black, and with a longer sport bob rear fender and forward controls. Video at link. Total project price will be between 1,250 and 1,500 depending on labor and whatnot.

Said it first and I'll say it again, she's the one that raced the damn things (69 and a 76) at Norwalk back in the late 70s (NPSA too). So I guess that's how I got around that hurdle.. and the fact that she wants me to have one too, short of buying it of course. She's gotta buy one for herself when her current lease is up.

It was funny, though, as the conversation went from bike to Camaro as fast as you can say "Fine I'll sell it, lookit E-bay!" (With a couple of tissues for her too. <_<)

...And then the "Now who is the better driver here?" conversation popped up. And if you own MOTHER questions that, you gotta do SOMETHING..right? I mean, c'mon. But it's going to be an LT vs an SS. :/

I can't help but laugh as I type this too, it's drawing stares in class.
