Possible Stable Mate for the SS

Hey everyone.

Right now I have a pre order 2010 Camaro SS.




My Story. I've fell in love with the Solstice Coupe at the 2008 Philly auto show.




I was at the auto show because I had pre ordered the 2010 Camaro and didn't even know they were coming out with a Solstice Coupe. I would have put an order in that day for the coupe if the Camaro wasn't coming out. .. the style and color combo above reminded me of the old Shelby Daytona's.


Well, my story continues.... I've been wanting to purchase a second home in Naples FL, (I live in Pit, Pa). But my wife is not on board at all. . . so I said, Let me purchase a Coupe when I pay off the Camaro. . . she actually said YES.

So now, I'm in the mist of looking for a nice coupe. I owe 20k on my Camaro still but I plan on paying off the car this summer. (Have the money now to pay it off if need be.)

I see a few Coupes on Ebay for sale, but I am unsure how long I'll have to grab one up since they don't make them anymore. Only 1,300 if I recall.

I really what a White one, but understand my picking is very limited now. Only made 77 white ones.

Thoughts on picking up a rare Pontiac for a little brother?

Get a Shelby Daytona or Shelby Cobra replica kit from Factory Five Racing, one of the very best in the replica world for these cars. Build it in your garage and make it to suit your taste, drop your choice of engine in it. This was my FFR (factory five roadster) when it was finished.

+1. did they change the laws and made these kinds of cars tougher to get registered to drive legally on the streets??

In CA, we have Senate Bill 100. The state issues 500 SB100certificates for Special Construction Vehicle per year. Basically, it is a Smog Exempt pass. 500 certs seem small but I haven't met anyone who hasn't gotten one if they lined up at any DMV office when they open the doors on the 1st business day of every year.

that seems like an awfully small window of oppurtunity, especially if other people have the same idea.

I did think about that. . I do like the Cobra. . . one of my cars I've always thought I would have. . . . . BUT, I'm a "turn Key" guy... more of a driver than fixer. . . I don't care to do anything but "tinker" with my cars.

Seems like it doesn't it? But if you are building a car, you know you need one of the certs, so it is no big deal to wake up early on January 2nd to get a smog-free pass for life. It used to be hectic where all 500 were gone by 11am. Basically, when you show up at DMV, they sit you aside, if there are 10 of you, they collect your paperwork and call Sacramento to get ten SB100 numbers at the same time. It is the getting through to Sacto that is scary because other DMVs are calling in at the same time. But twice now I did it and I was out of the DMV by 9am with my SB100s. Lately, the 500 were not all issued on the same day. A certain Hot Rod builder was investigated and fined for monopolizing the system years ago. I am planning to build another FFR in a year or so. It will be silver with black stripes and fuel injected this time.
