If you doubt that time too you have to realize how much proper tires can help the 1/4. Shoot put radials on a stock V6 6MT and itll go from running low 14s to mid 13s if it hooks. Every tenth off your 60' is .2 in the 1/4 on average.

You guys just made my day (even though i hate the auto and its shift lag and skip shift) by telling me that. I do think many of the 3.73 guys (but not all) have some drag radials sitting around.

Well hell....what was motortrend really driving then when they supposedly got a 0-60 in 4.3 seconds out of a completely non-modified mustang. It was supposed to be a 3.73 geared car. Obviously i do not think youd put a 3.31 out there and boom you are at 4.1 seconds in 0-60 soo....im utterly confused.

Are you guys talking strictly about the 1/4?

I spend a lot of time on allfordmustangs but it looks like i need to come here more often!

Speaking of going to forums when you dont own their car.

I am not the hater of GM i was back in the bail out days. I was on the CTS-V forums yesterday and....well now thats a car i would never want to mess with. It gives the Shebly a hard time from what i hear. Much respect for the Vett also. GM does offer their customers a hell of a car in either a 2 door sports car, a 2 door coupe and a 4 door coupe between the V, the vette and the camaro. You got to give them props for that.

Which is why I am trying to get my 60' times back down after my cam change. Should get down to 11.90's to 12.00's. I would just like to put those time into prespective to other cars running. I keep hearing about all these incredible times from stock cars but I just haven't seen it. In fairness I didn't see "NHRA Stocker" run his 12.5* pass bone stock. I know there are "freaks" out there, but I think it is WAY off the norm.

How much does the new Boss weigh?

I would bet it is putting more power to the wheels than a stock SS with less drivetrain loss.

Add DR's @ 25lbs, really good gas, near perfect weather (notice everyone wearing jackets) and add a lot of passes with an experienced driver.... I bet they see 11's or real close to it.

By the way.....It's not stock anymore with DR's.

as i said in my comparison thread on the Mustang Gt and the Camaro SS ( i owned my SS for a year) the SS felt faster in everyday driving and until i took my mustang to the track i would have swore the SS was faster. now i was only getting 2.4 second 60" times in the camaro. if i had been able to match the mustangs 1.9 60' times with the camaro it would have been 6/10 closer in the quarter. but the 111 mph the mustang ran is 4 mph faster than the 107 the camaro consistently ran and 60' times wont change that. i liked the camaro and will own another but for now i own a mustang, i like em both

Here is the latest Inside Line dyno test.

I searched youtube to see if they ever strapped a stock LS3 SS to their same dyno but nothing came up. Did IL ever dyno a SS?

Nice numbers! That 5.0 is definitely a runner. Good to see Ford pushing GM to up it's game. As a consumer of domestic muscle pony's, it is a good time to be a car buyer!!

Yes, strictly 1/4. I'm not well versed in the effective overall gearing of the mustang, so i'm unsure of when shifts are made relative to speed, but if you can hook the shorter geared car should accelerate faster barring shift time. Like I said before, the main reason you see the 3.31 and 3.15(auto) cars putting down better ETs is because the 3.73 is running out of fourth gear at the end of the 1/4 either in the 'soft' limiter, which cuts power, or actually having to shift into 5th. My car has the same problem, but I have considerably shorter gearing.

Assuming a 15% Power loss thats 437hp at the crank.

But the live axle is more efficient than the IRS so estimating it at only 12% loss puts it at around 425.

As mentioned previously.....its under-rated and there is a lot of conventional wisdom floating around that the average 5.0 is around 430hp. Put off road pipes, a tune and an intake and its knocking on the door of the 500. (thats because they are severly detuned from the factory...even making 380rwhp they are severely detuned)
