EU attempts to ban conventionally powered cars in all cities by 2050

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worl...s-by-2050.html

The U.K. Says "No Way!"

I wonder if we will try and beat them... maybe we'll shoot for 2025?

Which means Cali will shoot for Summer 2012 for a ban on all cars. Ouch.

Where does it say that they are looking to outright ban cars from cities?

"a target of "zero" for the number of petrol and diesel-driven cars and lorries in the EU's future cities."

Electric cars, hydrogen cars, and other alt-fuels will still be allowed and it all depends on the idea actually getting put into law, which is extremely unlikely. But I guess its easier to ignore that stuff.

Without the car modern cities would not be possible. This is the kind of ass backwards thinking that you get from modern Europe. With all the suburbs in the US this would never work.

Which is why they have no intent to ban cars from cities, despite what the title of that article says.

I just want to know when my hover conversion will be available. Its 2011 and we have 4 years to get this right. I'll take the skyway and stop driving in the city.

It looks like you could have a hovercar in about 2 years according to these guys. They only need about $3,000,000 and they'll get working on a prototype, based on a Ferrari (not sure if that is included in the $3M pricetag). Though it would probably be wise to have an extra few million handy in case they underestimated their initial cost. If you can wait for someone else foot the big bill, they claim that production version will be quite a bit less.

Interesting but this has been tried and failed so many times over I'll believe it when I see it being offered at my local dealership.

I will be dead by 2050 and I have no plans to ever go to Europe so more power to them crazy brits. I'm about 100% sure that if they ever tried that here, they better take everyone's guns first.

He's implying that there would be an armed revolt if such a law was passed here in the states. Even if electric cars come to be the norm here in the states (and it's still a long way off) people like us at Camaro5 are still going to want to drive our gas powered vehicles for nostalgia's sake.
