Goodbye, Magna.

Today is a bittersweet day for me, or rather a night. I was out to eat with my family, and my mother brought up the subject of the bike, and how she was still unsure of it being a wise decision. I played it off during the dinner and waited until we got home to continue the discussion. It seemed she still wasn't ok with the bike being in my possession, being a mother and all. But it was how she ended up expressing that tore me up inside..

She actually cried for me. Cried for the fact that I had been so reckless in this boondoggle. We had a small fight, I chewing her out and she me until it eventually blew over and we cooled off. What I did next I still hurt about, but I felt it the right thing..

I put it up for auction.

When she found out, she was relieved.. and still thinks a V8 monster Camaro is safer. But at least I cheered her up and did the right thing for a woman that has done so much for me these past 21 years. And I guess there are two things she really loves in this world..

Our family

And the Camaro.

Awe! Nice that you would take her concerns so seriously and sad that you're selling the bike, but the Camaro will be a nice replacement.

I don't ride on the street for the same reasons/concerns your Mom has. Even the best rider can have trouble avoiding the idiot who pulls out in front of him(her).

At least if I hit a tree on my bike in the trail, it's clearly my own fault!

Yeah, her stories of racing her stock 6 back in the late 70s got me into Camaros along with my dad's '79 Z28. Both of them were, and still are Camaro fanatics. Dad is still GM faithful, but my mom is surprisingly still loving her old Durango traded in for their current Ford Edge lease.

She actually can't wait to get out of that thing and into a Camaro. So I guess that was one of the motivating factors; to at least live to see her get that car and race her, proving I'm a better driver. My dad and brother will just shake their heads wondering 'why?' We've been waiting since 2006, can't screw it up this close to launch date.

Update: I've already got two bids on the bike. Hopefully I can get more so that I can add it to the fund for a Camaro down-payment (unless any dealer on here wants to take it in on a trade for the car). Anyone want a bike?

Anyone? Bueller? Bueller...?

I wish I had something to sell for the Camaro. This will be a good start toward something else that will make you happy.
