I just read IL's review and it appears, once again, that the did not adjust the suspension in the Boss 302. The suspension is adjustable for a reason, to optimize the dampers for different track duty. Even still, the Boss might have a hard time with the GT500 here at Willow. IL managed a 112mph top speed in the back straight (about 5mph slower than Randy). Still a decent video, its a good day when the Mustangs only competition is a Mustang. I don't expect much from IL, slower times, slower speeds, not maximizing the suspension and stating that the 1st-3rd gear ratio's were much steeper from the V6PP to the GT to the Boss... When the same Getrag MT-82 with the same ratio's are used in all three Mustangs (when they even stated it was a Getrag in the report) Either way, the GT500 is untouchable as far as 1/4 mile goes, regardless of what Insideline has to say... Good find Dan...

Wow, the Shelby GT500 only weighed 3808lbs in that video, that's pretty impressive. The Insideline gallery is nice, there are some screen savers in there. http://www.insideline.com/ford/musta...t-gallery.html

Car's and Driver 2011 PP weighed 3,751lbs when they had it on the scale at their track. The GT500 is no longer a overweight pig, especially once you change the rims, as I got mine down to 3,660lbs and heard the factory H pipe weighs 30lbs and the passenger seat is even heavier so its possible for mine to tips the scales on race day some where in the 3,5xx's which have some of the Terminators crying. Next on the mod list is Griggs suspension and brakes which should drop another 120lbs, by then I don't think any 100k street car would pass it at the track in the hands of a good driver.

This is so awesome that the Boss has responded so freakin well to "such little mods" as a few members put it. Ford really delivered a home run with this Boss 302 on on such an aging platform. I'm so glad automakers are making steps in the right direction after watching them go backwards for so long. All these new models make we wish I had the expendable income to just get the ultimate Mustang in every category 2012 Boss 302s, 2012 Cobra Jet in blue and keep my 2011 as a mild mannered DD, all that and a new SVT Raptor and I'd be in new car nirvana.
Funny thing is I always considered my self a chevy guy until I joined this site and I still would be if they currently had direct competition to the 4 vehicles on my list. I wore by Chevy blinders on pretty tight and never really stopped to smell the roses ford was growing this past decade the and give them credit where credit is due especially since chevy bowed out in 02 and that is the same time I canceled all my chevy subscriptions, lost my 67 Camaro to my ex and got into hot rodding diesel pickups. I joined here expecting to see mid-low 12 second stock L99's but that wasn't the case, then I saw a post about a stock 2010 GT500 running 10's with just a pulley and DR's and I was hooked. Well so much for the over hyped Boss, I for one am happy to see that the GT500 is still king over at the Ford Camp, maybe if Ford had put some torque in the Boss along with the HP things might have been differant.

Thats not bad I guess when you think about new cars prices. Your getting a whole package for that. I know I could produce a Camaro special edition dealer car that would make more power for a lot less for sure, but you have to look at suspension as well. |

That was one test. It killed the GT500 at laguna seca along with the Z06 corvette. The Point is these cars are all king any more. there is very little overall difference in performance. Just buy the one you like the best and you'll be one of the king too no matter which one you get.

It beat the old Z06's time, not the new Z06 Carbon... A Motor Trend driver was running it. Although, Ford brought in a "pro-shoe" and claimed that the Laguna Seca ran a sub 1.39.

They were all driven by pros but not the same pros and not the same day. Either way that is very impressive for a solid rear axles 302.
