Nissan GTR vs Cadillac CTS-V Drag Race

Okay so the CTS-V may be the Hennessy V650, but it is the station wagon version..... The V650 CTS-V costs $79k, the GTR stock costs $81k.

The time for the CTS-V seems rather slow for what it is, as does the GTRs(MT recorded a 11.2, which is alot faster time, but the trap speed of that run and this run are about the same)

I saw a GTR run a 9.9 @ 150 MPH. I would take the GTR over the CTS.

Obviously that car was was nowhere near stock. Nothing on the GTR's drivetrain will stand up to that kind of power. Probably had twice the value of the car just in modifications and upgrades.

A CTS-V will easily run faster than that, just takes deep pockets as well.

yea I have seen a 92 honda hatch run 9.5...haha

but here is the thing... it comes down to the epic battle of AWD (2012 GTR has improved lunch controle) VS RWD... Traction Traction Traction. BUT the CTS-V can do some crazy things midtrack

Nah, actually the car he's probably talking about which ran 9s is from AMS Performance, you can have a 9 sec GTR for the price of a Zr1. They take a stock 80k GTR and upgrade it which brings ur total price including everything to 121k. Not bad if u ask me.Motor trend tested a variant of the car and the numbers put out by that car had the ZR1, the Porsche Gt3, and a Veyron...Toast. I'm sure past the quarter mile a veyron would run it down past 200mph but in the quarter it has all these cars beaten.

You're comparing a highly modified ($41,000) GTR to stock vehicles that have full manufacturer's warranties and are designed to be reliable, comfortable, and last well over 200,000 miles. The AMS GTR could (and will) blow up or need major service and repairs in the near future that none of the other cars would ever need. No doubt its going to need engine and transmission work in the very near future, its inevitable. The trans can barely hold the stock power, its not going to last very long running 9 second passes.

If you want to compared mod for mod, a Z06 (which is cheaper than a GTR) with $41,000 into it would absolutely destroy the AMS GTR in every performance category. Its a much lighter, more capable, and better engineered car. A BONE STOCK Z06 will run a 10.8 at 127MPH on nothing more than drag radials alone, with $41K in modifications it would absolutely embarass the GTR.

And if you want to embarass the GTR even worse, all you need is a $48K GT500 with a few grand in mods. Evolution Performance has run some ridiculous times with stock internals, stock trans, and stock rear with nothing more than bolt ons.

Not true. A GTR trans will take power. Just not clutch drops. Just like our L99 cars. A trans tune makes worlds of difference. I have ridden in and am friends with the owner of the first GTR in the 9s from AMS.

Modded versus stock?

There's no point to be made here...imo. Cool video though, that wagon stuck like velcro! If it wasn't a V, I'd have to ask if it was AWD.

Ugh, but I can't stand to look at the miserable-looking nissan. It never gets anymore attractive when I see it.

The Wagon is definitely moving.

Given a choice between the two I would take the GTR hands down.

No matter how fast the GTR is, it still looks alarmingly like a Supra. Whoever approved the styling on those should have their head examined!

How can you like a car that has features installed that void the warranty if you use them? I know that apparently the launch control issue for GT-R's has been fixed, but that first model year or two was a joke.

Still no reason to hate on the car. Maybe the manufacturer but not the car. But still, at least they warned the owners that it nullifies the warranty. That's basically as if gm gave you a free tune for your car as soon as u press the button, but voids the warranty just like a tune does. But hey at least it's an option, it doesn't need launch control to be fast. Just faster. Still no reason to blindly have hatred for the car, especially the 2012 models
