Calling All HughesNet Satellite Users

I know there is a split second delay with Satellite Internet. The Daily allowance is not a problem as I would only play online for a few hours a week. I have check out all other options and I mean All other options and Satellite is my only option for High Speed Internet:(.

My questions are:

How Bad is it for gaming?
Will I get Massacred in Shooter games?
What games do you play with HughesNet Satellite?

Id say you will have the same problem I would if I took the only high speed option here. [only option we have is 2 line cable, where only the download side is fast via cable, all the upload side is dialup.]

Which you may experience as you won't have the same power to beam the stuff into the air, as the stength it has coming down.

The good news is the upload for HughesNet is 200kbs for the Bacis Plan. My issue is the $60 a month just for Internet. Being able to Play Games online would be make $60 a month a little easier to shallow. Least I would get some fun for my money. I hoping the delay is actual less than stated on average.

Was a great day when I got off hughesnet. I'm not a gamer but the service was awful. Speeds were never consistent and rain would kill the link totally. However if thats your only choice it beats the ole 56k hands down. I still have all the equipment and you can have it if you want it.

Yea any weather will mess with it, just like sat TV at times.

The up side is what id worry about though, thats a long distance your computer has to send data, wireless would be allot closes. Least your not sending data miles into space.

Wireless Not an option. 4G(), 3G (Very, Very Unreliable, Then again it may not be 3G) when someone tries to show me a video on their smart phone the connect drops and the video stops streaming then starts again after a few mintues and it very slow when it works. Better than Dailup but still slow. Plus when you break the Monthly allowance you get charged Extra per 1G over. At least with HughesNet it is a Daily Allowance and they just slow your connection.

So far it looks like I'm SCREWED!!!

I'm just trying to find a reason to Justify the $60 a month just for a faster Internet Connect. I Don't download Music or alot of Larger files. Being able to watch a video without waiting an hour would be nice. But the $60 a month is a sharp thorn in my side.

At some point I'm going to have too cough up the $60 a month. I even asked about footing half the cost of running a 2nd line from a box about 2 miles up the road that has DSL. The Phone company WON'T DO IT!!!!!!!

one bit of leverage I was told about by a linemen was to contact the public utility commission, each state has one, kinda like an equal rights thing, they gotta give everyone equal access to services.
