Iron Maiden, easily the best I've ever seen. Bruce still sounds like he did 20 years ago, maybe even better.

Black Label Society and Killswitch Engage probably round out my top 3.

really wish I could have seen Pantera

Great stuff...

I've also seen Alan Parsons Project open for Yes at a Winery here in Seattle that was a pretty damn good concert.

It's always been tough for me to choose between Rush and Pink Floyd as my favorite. I guess I'm on a Rush kick because they are coming out here July 2nd to The Gorge, which is an awesome venue for any band.

Neil wrote in his book "Ghost Rider" the following about a concert I attnded out there:

In May of 1997, on the Test for Echo tour, Rush played a concert at The Gorge, an outdoor ampitheatre overlooking the treeless banks of the Columbia, which rippled westward from the backstage area in muscular bulges of yellow grass. In early evening, the air's perfect clarity played infinite shadings of light over the simple, dramatic landscape, and we took the stage in front of about 20,000 people (one of our largest crowds ever) just as the slow sunset dimmed into the cloudless, transparent twilight - soon overpowered by the colored stage lights, follow spots, and video screens, and overlooked by a rising half moon. It was the most beautiful setting in which I had ever performed. - Neil Peart

Very cool! We saw Alan Parsons Project at TPAC Nashville & Yes a couple of times - the last time in the Ryman --That was cool.

Wow,so many great bands listed here. I saw Dave Matthews and The Allman brothers in Atlanta at piedmont park. Being a saxophone player and long time Dave fan I'm so glad I saw them before Leroi Moore died. Its still a toss up between Dave and seeing Butch Walker in Charleston. Not a very popular musician but puts on a heck of a show. Even though he's a douchebag, John Mayer puts on a great show too.

Best fictional concert

DethKlok

The ones where the stage fall out of the sky as a giant box, giant video screens, battle axes swinging from towers........

[can't find it on youtube, for some reason kids get a kick out of making a video that is a single picture, and hold their ipod to the mic and call that a video.

Thats a ripped off mp3 with a picture you tards........]

I'll show my age and say ZZ Top. Saw them live in '81 (I think) and never missed another show in Memphis after that. I've seen quite a few but they were my favorite. Every song played was a hit at one time or another. No slow times or "I'm going to the concession stand on this one" times. Standing room only and nobody left for anything cuz ya just might miss something...
Seen them twice, they rock!

My rankings

1. Led Zeppelin (1977)
2. Pink Floyd (1980, 1988, 1994)
3. Van Halen (1981, 1982 and in 1988 w/ Metallica/Scorpions)
4. Elvis (1977)
5. Kiss (1977 w/ AC/DC opening)

Best multi act show was in 88 Van Halen/ Metallica during the Monstors of Rock tour, but also the 1999 VMA awards was pretty cool (Smash Mouth and Blink 182 was pre-show, Kid Rock opened, NIN, Eminem, Snoop, Dr. Dre, Jay Z and a bunch of pop stars)

honorable mention: ZZ Top, Aerosmith, Rolling Stones, Queen, Rush, The Ramones, Heart, Foreigner, Journey, Ozzy w/ Motley Crue, Styx, REO Speedwagon, NIN w/ Marilyn Manson and the Jim Rose Circus (weird)

i felt pretty lucky to see some of those, because I was only 8 years old in 1977.

I have to agree 1,000,000 times, although I never got the privilege to see them live, they are (from what I have seen in videos) an amazing live band!

Funny thing, when I was reading your comment, Rush-Tom Sawyer started playing on my TV, which is a sign that they are the greatest!

I just wanted to point something out...

Your quote says "I never got the priviledge"...

You know that they are STILL touring, right? In fact, they are on a current tour right now. I'll be seeing them July 2nd out here near Seattle.

You're in Michigan...and I see they are doing a show in Auburn Hills on April 17th. Don't miss out on a chance to go see the best live band still playing...

Thanks, I realize that they are still touring, but the last time they were here, I missed out and couldn't go. Thanks for the information, I'll have to check it out!
