True... But they are starting to gradually go down for military cal. plinking ammo. The big bore and rare stuff is still kinda spendy, but I've seen it go down by about 20% overall. If you want ammo for a decent price, ORDER IT ON LINE in bulk. It is almost always cheaper than marked up stuff from your local shops.

I usually do buy in bulk. I've got 3 big duffle bags full of ammo... each is so heavy its almost too much to lift . I haven't bought any ammo in about 2 years now.... I got about 600 rounds of 12 gauge alone . I like to keep everything the same size, so I've only got a couple calibers.... just makes things easier. If I do buy in a store, its usually walmart (its cheapest around here)... only issue is all the people that work there think your a psycho when you ask them to unlock the cabinet and get something for you . Darn city folk

Honestly not a fan. If I need stoping power I'll get an FN FAL rather than a 47. The 47 is too hard to stay on target without fighting the kickback. Only advantage it has over my m38 and m91/30 is that it is semi auto.

Honestly, if I could readily buy/find the ammo, I'd prefer my Repro. MP44 instead of an AK.

I have my ak pistol it's just great for fun, parts and ammo are both pretty cheap and easy to come by.

IOM the kick isn't that bad I don't even have a stock on it and I can still get a great grouping at a similar pace as my 9mm or .45

But if you worry about kick just get an FN five-seven, sleeping toddlers have more kick. And it's pretty devastating.

Reloading will save you money in the long run... Actually, you won't save any money, you will just shoot more for it.

There's a place making newly manufactured parts for the reproduction MP44s (the PTR44) that came in from Germany in the Fall of '09. The rifles were slightly altered by the manufacturer in Germany not to accept some original parts so they couldn't be converted into FA. PTR, Inc. and Recon Ordnance distributed the rifles and only 200 made it into the country before they decided not to bring in any more and they are sold out. I have one and I love it. Non corrosive newly manufactured ammo is readily avail. in the lower 48 made by Prvi Partisan in Serbia - it's just not readily avail. in Alaska. :( I do have the dies, bullets, primers, casings to make 1000s of rounds. But the other poster is right, I will probably just shoot it more.

Here's the rifle in the custom transit box I had made for it...
