Fact is.......GM and Ford are equal.......chryslter used to be in that same group but no longer. But the challenger is a fine vehicle. ive driven all 3 engine choices and the only one that sucks is the V6.

You should really read more and post LESS. We 'loyalists', in my case anyway, like the Challenger and the Mustang, which you could see if you were not just trying to bash GM 'loyalists' on a GM car website. Doing so; IS retarded.
And, in Mustangs defense... there were years when it was faster (1980s) before GM put in the 350. But, they were never as valuable, were always cheaper.
So, while we joke about the cars being 'boats' a whiny little mustang guy comes on the Camaro site and gets to be the big tuff ford fan HIDING behind his computer, and personally insult some GM guys......

first of all... the ecoboost for the mustang is an alternative for the V8 and will be sold at a similar price. Also whose to say that by 2011 the camaro V6 wont be upgraded? Living in the future is almost as pointless as living in the past....

my point about speed is that anyone can mod it. yes GM is putting out a better factory speed for the next 2 years. but to say mustangs are never faster is simply not true.

also, im not on here trying to bash GM fans by any means. GM has made some of my favortie vehicles. but there are some GM fans out there that as i said......act like yankee fans when it comes to the camaro.

and fact is.......no one can give me a good answer as to why they killed it off for a while.

but if i offended anyone i apologize. I am a big 3 american car fan first and Ford Loyalist 2nd.

simple fact is for me......if i had the money i would have one of each of the big 3 ponies.

one thing ford has done, and I will give them credit for, is the fact that they have stuck by their creed of "a mustang in every garage"

v-6 mustangs have been cheap, plentiful sellers for years. part of the reason the camaro was put on hiatus was because it was getting hard to sell them in the quantities that they needed. in the late 80s and early 90s there was a boom in import autos being sold in the US at cheaper prices than the more powerful muscle cars. when the 4th gen camaro's came out in 93, they were already on the cutting block for discontinuation. throw in the camaro/firebird body sharing eating up total sales of the platform, it didnt make for a good future for the car. the enthusiasts wanted more power, but the majority of america wanted economy and price. difficult things to merge together.

with the advent of smaller, cheaper import cars and the ratio of enthusiasts coming down, it didnt make sense to the big wigs at GM to keep trying to pump the Camaro/Firebird into the future. while there were plenty naysayers who fought to keep the f-body in production, the final word was no.

it takes a lot to design, produce, market, and sell a car to someone who doesnt need/want all the bells and whistles that muscle cars have (ie torque and hp), and when the majority of consumers want cargo capacity, mpg, and passenger occupancy, a powerful muscle car with 2+2 seating and low mpg doesnt make much sense in an evolving world that cares more about getting little johnny to football practice and comfortably fitting 5 people in the car on long trips.

im pretty sure they killed the camaro off cause it wasnt selling and lost support. they killed it off with every intention of bringing it back.
