Easy solution: Work for the state.

Supervisor: So you got the job, just come on in whenever you want to start and we'll put you to work.

Me: Uhh, so do I have to start this Monday or something...?

Supervisor: Not really, just whenever.

Me: Umm...okay. As far as scheduling goes, what days do you guys need me to work?

Supervisor: Oh...whenever you want to really. As long as you get your minimum 10 hours in, you're good.
