I'm having Nick @ Newtech install them and I'm having the car custom tuned by him as well. I was planning on having him tune it before I decided to go with the headers because I haven't been 100% pleased with my current tune. He said he can get rid of my cam surge for me.

Now I just need to find someone in the next few years that will smog my car for me when the time comes.

Does that mean to pass on you on emissions? I am so glad Texas doesn't have those strict rules.

Yep. He could probably pass with a good tune, but he'd fail the visual inspection in California with those longtubes.

Mhmmm, and I hate it. I'm a bit of an environmentalist and I'm all for keeping today's modern emissions systems intact, but the visual inspection serves no purpose IMHO. It's against the law to change the location of the factory cat - like with headers. I don't see why we need a visual if the tailpipe sniffer says the emissions are okay.

Yeah and some inspectors are rather thorough whereas others will let stuff slide as long as your car passes the sniffer test.

Whipple isn't CARB certified? I imagine it will be eventually.
