MILK, have you tried to get sponsored by a Police department? They pay for your schooling and you have a guaranteed job upon graduation.

How does that work? I am looking to go to a big deparment, so staying in Bakersfield is not an option, but I am open to LA, Chicago, any big city in Texas, or a big northeast city. NY, DC, etc.. The problem is, that in looking around and asking questions, some departments only hire during certain periods. Chicago just closed their appplications and it was the first time in a few years that they accepted any.

At my old College, CSUS, they had days where Police departments would come to the campus and scout for recruits. Maybe an advisor may be able to help you with that if your college doesn't have something similar.

I'm not 100% sure but I think it may only work with California departments since you go to school in CA. I would call or check some departments you're interested in's websites and ask/look for recruiting or scholarships.

Yeah. My goal is to move up as fast as I can. A BA and good GPA will help. But I might need a Masters eventually.

No, they don't do that here. My only option is to just apply and make sure they know that I haven't finished school, but I plan to whether they hire me or not.

That is Skips plan as well. I want him to do Detective or FBI or US Marshalls or something but who knows.

I told the head of the department I wanted to do that, and he laughed. Federal agents get lower pay and less benefits. Although they get automatic overtime. I'll be happy with being a detective at a police department. A cool 80K a year is fine with me.
