maybe I don't know the business side as much as you do. On a large scale business, maybe small business as well, how much revenue does the owner normally give for the salary for their workers? To me, it seems that a business that makes 9 billion dollars a year, using 50% of that for salaries is not that bad of an investment. Maybe i'm wrong.
Well, it largely depends on the type of business you are in. Im my business payroll is about 80% of the profit. But that's because I have to put my profit back into my business. It varies largely on wether or not you are a service based business, goods, retail, etc............ So it varies.

But businesses just don't pay as much salary as the NFL does JUST because. There is not another business I can think of that negotiates their payroll directly in conjunction to profits. It's theivery by the employee to in my opinion. You can see how I feel about modern unions.

The bullshit I'm talking about is being considered evil and the bad guy everytime someone talks about them. The bullshit of being pushed around by your employees. Every time a new deal has to be made, you get to here what a greedy bastard you are. The employees RUNNING the Fing show. I get sick of hearing about it. THEY built the business. Without them, there IS no job.

But, ya. Even you think they should shut the F up because they already make millions. They took the risks and built the NFL into what it is. They DESERVE the Millions they make.

Don't ge me wrong. My feeling are on priciple.

To me, it's communism. When does it stop? Where is the line drawn? To me it's deeper than just the NFL.

These arogant son of a bitching players thinking they are that important. I"d literally PAY to see them unemployed.

I'd love to have the players either shit can the union, or get in the unemployment line.

Someone smarter than them takes a risk, builds a business and they come in liek a bunch of titty leaches and suck on it and have the balls to think they are entitled somehow.

i guess i look at it like the entertainment industry. Which it essentially is. Would you really want to see nothing but b and c actors all the time? Granted they don't really have owners, but the production companies pay the good actors the big bucks.

I think your hate for the players stems from the high profile players. And they are really in the minority.

I don't know, i think the NFL could be run with no owners. Or perhaps have the fans own the teams. Like the Packers. Just hire a board of directors to take care of the stadium, travels, etc.

In a perfect world maybe. But it is a private business.

Yes, it's entertainment which is very much like a service based business.

It's my distain for unions that drive my feelings. Unions once had a place and were a good thing. NOT anymore. At least not the way they do now.

And, yes, it's the high priced guys who are imo not worth the money. Most players make much smaller salaries. Hell, let the greedy ass Mannings and Bradies of the league take the cuts. BUT. I go back to principle. The owners should be able to pay the players peanuts if they want. Nobody forces them to play. If the product suffers, the consumer goes away. So the owners have to keep the product up. It's a balance. It's a healthy balance that maintains and regulates it's self. And when you disrupt that balance (unionize) it gets all screwed up.

i get you. I wonder why they just can't keep everything the same, and just have everything on a scale type contract. for instance, if the business is doing poorly, or costs rise, then the percentage changes. If they make about the same amount, everything stays the same, and if they make more money, then increase the cap for the next year.

it's just frustrating as a fan. I have never watched a pro football game live. I was actually planning on seeing Miami for the first time in my life when they go to San diego. Knowing my luck, they will play at the beginning of the season, when there's still a lockout...

They'll get it worked out.

The thing that irritates me too is that the players union caters to the high paid players.

If I were a lower paid player, I'd be freakin' pissed. Other than the top 20% or so, the rest make a modest salary in comparison. So the real problem, as far as the profit split, is the top paid players. For Manning, Brady, Peterson, etc........ to be a part of this I wonder how they look themselves in the mirror?

You also have the owners profit sharing thing that throws another twist in. That's between themselves but teams like the Bills and Bengals who tend to not spend money on their teams really piss off the Cowboys, Redskins, Raiders of the league.

oh, i know they'll get it worked out. it's a matter of when. Just like in the 82 when there was a player strike and missed 7 games.

It's really easy for me to be synical and dislike these A-Holes right now.

My team sucks.

Funny thing is it's the OWNER of the Bills that is the problem.

10 MORE things you should know right now about the CBA

1. Brace yourself for another possible extension.

2. The lockout already has started.

3. League, union need to reach a deal on financial information.

4. League needs to be sure the owners don’t see the numbers.

5. The union makes a wise P.R. move on financials.

6. Whatever happened to the vow of silence?

7. 18 games could still be coming.

8. Litigation wouldn’t necessarily delay the start of the season.

9. The league should consider a world without rules.

10. Squeezing the spread between the cap and the floor could help.
