So anyone watching Jeopardy?
IBM is pitting it's computer Watson against Ken Jennings and another top winning contestant. It's very interesting. Watson is spanking them pretty good but also making some stupid mistakes.

I saw it too. Love Jeopardy, but don't understand what the point is to making this "super" computer that can really only answer trivia questions. Seems like a waste of time and money . . . unless there is some alterior motive and it leads to something . . . just sayin'.

Watson is interpretting the nuances of Jeopardy questions, searching the internet and other databases and answering the questions all on its own. I'd say that's some pretty impressive technology that has a vast array of useful applications in the real world.
Think JARVIS from the Iron Man movies
