Does anyone else get a little pissed....?

At the great fuel mileage they are getting from these high powered cars?

Obviously not that we are getting it, because that's great, but that it's taken this long to get it.

WTF? This isn't some new technology that is finally here. 26mpg from a 400 HP car? OMG.

Just gets me a little irritated that they didn't give it to us sooner.

I'm just curious if anyone else had felt that way.

I've never gotten 26MPG. 24.5 is the closest I've gotten.

I think it has more to doing with the tuning technology we have than anything else. I read somewhere gm tried to do this in the 80's with those caddi's.

The car manufacturers are in cahoots with the oil companies, it's a conspiracy LOL.

I got 26.3 from Mobile, AL to Baton Rouge, LA at 65 mph with the cruise on. That's starting the meter WHILE at highway speed already and checking it when I got of the interstate. But still, I've NEVER got that even from any V6 we've owned.

I'm not sure what it is. I just know that it's easily better than it used to be.

Last time I drove the car I am somewhere around 17-18 range!

In fairness, I was already at freeway speed when I set the gauge. And I got 26.3 at 65mph.

I damn sure don't get into the 20s when I set it and forget it for a few months.

I"m around 18.3 and the funny part is I was 17.3 before the blower. I actually get better mileage WITH a supercharger.

What about the 300 hp cars getting 30 mpg? Not too long ago, you'd need a V8 to get that power, and a 4 banger to get that economy.

And the technology isn't all that inovative and different. At least not in terms of being able to do it back then. They are WAY behind on this.

Complacency I suppose, but it's shameful.

I get 25.5 on the freeway cruising at ~70mph and 17.5 overall even getting on it now and than with a supercharger. My wife only gets 19 in her v6 camery and I get 17.5 in my daily driver v6 4runner. I agree with the cahoots theory!
