Dodge Announces Green Challenger & 6.4L Hemi 470hp

Chrysler Group announced that they will launch a limited production run of the 2011 Dodge Challenger R/T Classic and SRT8 models. The limited production vehicles will feature ‘Green With Envy’ exterior color, the company noted.


They probably saw how well the Synergy green was selling compared to their "plum Crazy" and thought they should join in on the fun. I know the challengers have had green like this in the past (sublime green) but one year after camaro did it CMON!!! lol Im not complaining though.....Just saying

New Features for 2011 models

The all new Dodge features the legendary 392-cubic inch HEMI powertrain, which the company is bringing back to the street. The new HEMI engine that can pump out a power of 470 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque, provides an additional 90 lb-ft of torque at 2,900 rpm, when compared to the previous 6.1-liter V-8 engine.

The company said that the 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 will be available with either the standard five-speed automatic transmission with Auto Stick or an available Tremec TR-6060 six-speed manual transmission that was first offered on the 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10.

what copycats. It still won't boost their sales that much though. The car is still slow for the money unfortunately. And unless you're getting the car solely to look retro, it just doesn't compare with the competition.

It would beat the SS finally though, but they were never meant to compete, they were just THAT slow before

That being said. If I could afford both, I'd have bought the Challenger solely for the retro look. I do love how the car looks on the outside.

Plum Krazy, same as this, same as Detonator yellow were built in limited numbers period (not like GM with synergy green that calls is limited for 10 and they an all out whatever you want it on for 11. Also, slow for the money? Are you joking? The R/Ts have run low 13s, the 6.1 is a good run for a stock SS and I would give it the edge over an auto SS the new SRT 392s have hit 12.4, also lets not even go feature to feature because the price that you pay for the SRT nets you features that is not even available on the Camaro and basically everything else that is. I love them both, but you get what you pay for.

This new engine is going to be amazing: 470 lbs/ft torque. I bet it will be aurally pleasing as well.

Still wouldn't trade my M156 V8 for it, though.

I gotta say that green looks alot better on the challenger than the synergy green does on the camaro. I'm excited to see what that motor does.

The new interior coupled with the awesome color choices they offer...plus the new engine...I may have to look. GM offering the basic colors and a lack of infotainment options is kind of ticking me off. I know the Camaro is beautiful, but look at the competition and what they offer for less money. And now Challenger offers the EVIC performance monitoring system along with a nav screen and hard drive system. Plus the constant updates to the drivetrain...

Very good points.

Kind of wishful thinking, but it would be really cool if Dodge came out with a "lightweight" model, maybe C/F body parts.

Less weight plus this more stout engine and already sexy looks would make a real classic.

Agreed...and I tip a hat to your ride.

GM could learn a little from the Challenger and the Mustang in these points...Ford has brought back some colors from it's past, most recently Grabber Blue. Dodge is selling Plum Crazy, Go Banana, Hemi Orange, Fuchsia, B5 Blue...in other words embracing the retro movement that the car appeals to...GM - where are the Marina blues, Hugger Oranges, Goodwood Greens, Marlboro Maroons? Why is GM not embracing the heritage that people love about the classic first Gens by offering the colors we all crave?
