I use an Omron BF monitor to check my BF % once a week on Monday. The place I get my physicals turned me on to it. They said it was within .1% accurate of their body scan machine that cost thousands based on the patients they'd compared it on. Even if it's not exact as long as it's moving in the right direction I don't sweat it too bad. I set it to my height and weight and to "athlete" since I'm not typical couch potato.

make me happy and never pick this up again. Sell it on ebay. This fancy machine tells me I stay at 30%-35% bf. because I'm 5'9" and 227 lbs.

Just is what it is I guess. Most I've ever been able to weigh was 178 but I was so sick of eating.
I understand but just as important as the foods it is the combination of said foods and timing.

HAHA obviously not 30% BF.

I go to LifeSigns for my yearly physical. They have some kind of thing that scans people from head to toe and can tell what's bone, what's muscle, organs, fat, etc. They claimed this thing was within .1% of that machine accuracy wise.

In any case, as long as it's going the right direction.......

I've got some pincers but no idea how to use them. They came with a tub of protein I bought once.

Yes the discussion of body fat monitors have been brought up for this very reason, for the op bennefit these types of monitors are not at all accurate, bioelectrical resistance often show water as fat, muscle has high water content so usually people with larger muscle content shows as high fat levels.

Definitely right about the water. But I think they're "ok" for most folks to use as a guide.

For example, it's pretty well agreed that about 10% BF the abs start to show pretty well. I'm at 11.2 now and they're just starting to come through. Usually when this thing starts to read 10% you can start to see them real well.

The body fat calipers"pinchers" are actually much more accurate and easy to use depending on the type. If you scroll back a few pages there is a pic. of a couple of types. You know the old saying "pinch an inch" it's more accurate than the bioelectrical ones and thats what the calipers are based on.

So, started tracking my food intake yesterday. I estimated my calorie, carb, protein, and fat intake to the best of my ability (chow hall food doesn't come with labels, but I used a calorie count website to at least get a decent estimate). From my calculations, looks like I only got in about 1450 calories or so which I know is too few (I'm 5'6", 140 lbs, 19% body fat). My goal is to increase muscle and hopefully lose a little bit of body fat while I am at it. Today I am trying to add more calories by having snacks which I don't normally do...I find it difficult to eat when I am not hungry. Good news is I also actually ate breakfast today which I never do either...I am taking hrpii and CFDs "lectures and tongue lashings" to heart and really trying to get this eating thing right!
